AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS,APPOINTING A
BOARD OF EQUALIZATION FOR THE YEAR 1971; PRESCRIBING SAID
BOARD'S DUTIES, COMPENSATION AND OATH; FIXING THE TIME FOR
THE FIRST MEETING OF THE BOARD; AND CONTAINING OTHER PROVI-
SIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT.
WHEREAS, Section 8.21 of the Charter of the City of Pearland, Texas,
provides that each year in February the City Council shall appoint five (5)
persons who shall be qualified voters and real property owners in the City
as a Board of Equalization; and shall also at the same meeting fix the time
of the first meeting of said board; and the compensation to be received by
each member while serving in official capacity;
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND,
TEXAS:
SECTION I
THAT TOBY S. LYTLE , RALPH WEMHOFF J
RAYMOND T. VIAL
JIM CAMPISE
and
W. RAY HARRISON , each being a qualified voter, a resident and a real
property owner of the City of Pearland, Texas, are hereby appointed as the
Board of Equalization for the City of Pearland, Texas, for the year 1971.
SECTION II
Said Board shall have such powers, and are to perform such duties as
are prescribed by Sections 8.22 and 8.23 of the Charter of the City of Pear -
land, Texas, and such other powers and duties that are expressly afforded by
the Constitution and Laws of the State of Texas.
SECTION III
The members of said Board of Equalization shall receive as compensa-

tion.the sum of $1.0.00 for each and every day they are actively engaged
in such work.
SECTION IV
Before said Board shall enter upon its duties, each member thereof
shall take and subscribe to the official oath prescribed in the Constitution
of the State of Texas.
SECTION V
The Board of Equalization shall hold its firstmeeting no later than
the 1st day of May, A. D. 1971.

SECTION VI
All ordinances, resolutions or parts of ordinances or resolutions
in conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed insofar as they conflict
herewith.
SECTION VII
In the event any section, sub -section, sentence, clause or phrase of
this Ordinance shall be declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional,
such adjudication shall in no means affect any other sections, sub -sections,
sentences, clauses or phrases of this Ordinance, but all the remaining por-
tion thereof shall be in full force and effect just as though the section,
sub -section, sentence, clause or phrase so declared or adjudged invalid or
unconstitutional was not originally part thereof.
SECTION VIII
This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its
adoption on second and final reading.
