AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS DURING CONSTRUCTION
ON A PORTION OF FM 518 WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF
PEARLAND AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the State Department of Highways and Public Transpor-
tation has made it known to the City of Pearland that operations will
begin in the near future to do grading, overlay with asphaltic
concrete pavement, and install signing, pavement markings, and signal-
ization along FM 518 and;
WHEREAS, in the interest of safety, it is desirable to maintain
a construction speed zone during the construction period;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PEARLAND that a
construction speed zone be established along the named highways or
parts thereof described as follows:
Along FM 518 from Old Alvin Road to a point 700 feet northwest
of Winding Road, a distance of approximately 3.655 miles, 35 MPH to be
effective when so signed within said zone.
Necessary signs for posting the speed zones will be furnished,
installed, and maintained by the direction of the State Department of
Highways and Public Transportation engineer in charge of the project.
Any person violating the provisions of this ordinance shall,
upon conviction, be fined in any sum not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars
($200).
This ordinance shall be in effect only during the period of
construction, and completion of this project shall automatically
cancel the speed zones.
