R96-32 06-03-96RESOLUTION NO. R96-32 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE PEARLAND INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD TO CONSTRUCT OFFICE AND STORAGE AREAS AS A PART OF THE PROPOSED JAMISON RECREATION CENTER FOR USE BY THE CITY'S PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT IN CONJUNCTION WITH SAID DEPARTMENT'S EXTENDED SERVICES TO BE PROVIDED ON THE JAMISON CAMPUS; AND ALLOCATING FUNDS FOR THE PROJECT FROM THE 1995 CERTIFICATES OF OBLIGATION NOT TO EXCEED 930,500. WHEREAS, the Pearland Independent School District Board (the "P.I.S.D. Board") has implemented plans to construct a recreation center on the Jamison Middle School campus, which is scheduled to be opened in May of 1997; and WHEREAS, the P.I.S.D. Board has agreed to allow the City's Parks and Recreation Department access to the recreation center for use while school is not in session; and WHEREAS, the proposed plans do not provide adequate office and storage space for the City's use; and WHEREAS, the P.I.S.D. Board has agreed to allow the City to construct office and storage areas as a part of the expansion which will include a 200 square foot building, the construction of which will cost approximately 914,000, with 95,500 for architectural fees and 911,000 for four pair of corridor doors; now, therefore, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: Section 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with the P.I.S.D. Board to construct office and storage areas as a part of the proposed Jamison Recreation Center for use by the City's Parks and Recreation Department in RESOLUTION NO. R96-32 conjunction with said Department's extended services to be provided on the Jamison campus while school is not in session. Section 2. That funds are hereby allocated for the project from the proceeds of the 1995 Certificates of Obligation, not to exceed $30,500.
