Ord. 0116D 1966-09-06ORDINANCE NUMBER 116 D AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE PEARLAND BUILDING CODE, ORDINANCE NUMBER 116, HERETOFORE PASSED BY THE CITY OF PEARLAND, BRAZORIA COUNTY, TEXAS, ON MARCH 24, 1966, SUCH AMENDMENT PROVIDING THAT THE CITY OF PEARLAND CAN REFUSE A BUILDING PERMIT FOR ANY STRUCTURE BUILT, AL- TERED OR REPAIRED THAT WOULD BE UNSIGHTLY OR SAID STRUCTURE WOULD BE DETRIMENTAL TO ADJACENT OR SURROUNDING PROPERTY OWNERS AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY: WHEREAS, Ordinance Number 116, of the City of Pearland, Brazoria County, Texas, being the Building Code, does not provide that the City can refuse a building per- mit for any structure built, altered or repaired that would be unsightly or said structure would be detrimental to adjacent or surrounding property owners: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND TEXAS: That said Ordinance Number 116 is hereby amended as follows: SECTION 2: PERMITS, INSPECTION, AND POSTING OF LIVE LOADS (d) No building or structure shall hereafter be built, enlarged or altered that would be unsightly or said structure would be detrimental to adjacent or surrounding property owners. The fact that there does not now exist within the City of Pearland an ordinance allowing the City to refuse a building permit for any structure built, altered or repaired that would be unsightly or said structure would be detrimental to adjacent or surrounding property owners, and the fact that such an ordinance is necessary to properly protect the health, welfare and general interest of the people of Pearland, and that there is an imperative public enactment of this amending ordinance, the parlimentary rule of procedure requiring that Ordinances be read on three separate meetings be, and the same is hereby suspended and this Ordinance shall become effective from and after its approval and publication and it is so ordered.
