AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 110, KNOWN AS THE
ELECTRICAL CODE OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, AMENDING
SUBPARAGRAPH 2, OF SECTION I, SUBPARAGRAPH 5 AND 6 OF
SECTION II, AND SUBPARAGRAPH I OF SECTION III OF SAID
ORDINANCE NO. 110; AND AMENDING SECTION 2 OF ORDINANCE

ELECTRICAL INSPECTORS CREATING APPRENTICE ELECTRICAL

15101 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS:
SECTION One: SUBPARAGRAPH 2 of ORDINANCE NO. 110, known
as the Electrical Code of the City of Pearland, Texas, is hereby
amendeJ to read as follows:
The Electrical Inspector (s) shall be appointed by the
Mayor and approved by the City Council. One such appointee shall
be designated as Chief Electrical Inspector by the Mayor (subject to
above approval) and such Chief Electrical Inspector shall have
direct supervision of all Electrical Inspectors and such clerical
employees as may be assigned to his office. The Officer designated
as the Chief Electrical Inspector shall be a fully competent
Electrical Technician well versed in the regulations of the National
Electrical Code. He shall be of good moral character and business
integrity. The Chief Electrical Inspector shall, during his tenure
of office be supplied by the City of Pearland, Texas with a Mister
Electrician's License without charge of examination; upon termination
of his tenure of office, he shall be required to pay the regularly
prescribed rate for any continued license provided he has been Chief
Electrical Inspector for a period of one (1) year.
SECTION two, SUBPARAGRAPHS 5 AND 6, of ORDINANCE NO. 110,
is hereby amended to read as follows:
5. REGISTRATION OF APPRENTICE ELECTRICIANS
Except as otherwise provided herein, those persons under-
taking "Electrical Work" as defined in this ordinance, under the
direct and constant control of a licensed electrician or a Journeyman
Electrician, and who have been properly registered with the Electrical
Board as hereinafter provided; shall be known as "Apprentice Electricians".
6. Before delivery of any registration certificate the
applicant shall pay to the Building Permit Clerk a fee of Fifty
Cents (.50).
SECTION three, SUBPARAGRAPH 1, of ORDINANCE NO. 110
is hereby amended to read as follows:
It shall be unlawful for any Electrical Inspector to
engage in; or have any financial interest in any concern engaging
in, the business of sale, installation or maintenance of electrical
wiring, apparatus, devices, appliances, fixtures, or equipment in
the City of Pearland, either directly or indirectly, at any time
while holding the position of Electrical Inspector for the City of
Pearland.
SECTION four, SUBPARAGRAPH 1, of ORDINANCE NO. 110
is hereby amended to read as follows:
All other phrases, clauses, paragraphs, and sub -paragraphs
contained in the original Electrical Ordinance No. 110 shall continue
and remain in full force and effect until amended, rescinded, or
appealed by the City Council by the City of Pearland.
SECTION five, SUBPARAGRAPH 1, of ORDINANCE NO. 110
is hereby amended to read as follows:
The fact that there is not now in effect a suitable
Electrical Ordinance containing the provisions and amendment herein
contained and the fact that there is a possible necessity therefor
in order to properly continue Electrical Inspections within the City
of Pearland and to provide for suitable inspectors, creates an
imperative public necessity and the rule requiring that Ordinance be
read at three separate meetings is hereby suspended and this Ordinance
shall take effect from and after its approval and passage.
