Ord. 0110B 1965-11-11si• "1 \,., AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 110, 4,,,• KNOWN AS THE ELECTRICAL CODE OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, AMENDING PART II, ENTIRE SECTION 7, IN REGARDS THE SERVICE CONDUCTORS AND SERVICE ENTRANCE AND OTHER MATTERS RE- 1 1-3 LATING THERETO AND PART II, SECTION 3, PARA- GRAPH 2 AS REGARDS THE COST FOR. EACH LIGH'fiNG r1XTURE; AND SUSPENDING THE RULE REQUIRING ORDINANCE TO BE READ ON TWO SEPARATE AND SEVERAL DAYS. ORDINANCE NO. 110B BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: SECTION SEVEN: ENTIRE SECTION 7 OF ORDINANCE NO. 110, known as the Electrical Code of the City of Pearland, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows: The service conduit and wires leading from the outside of the customer's building to the meter cabinet and main line switch shall be supplied, owned and controlled by the property owner but the installation of service drops and the connection of these wires to the supply lines is to be made by the Public Service Company owning and operating the supply lines. The owner shall provide a location for brackets or other attach- ments to the building to which the service wires are to be connected. Such location shall be not more than eighteen inches (18") from the service con- duit outlet. On residences of one story or more, the location shall be as high as is practicable on the building, but in no event shall it be more than twenty-five (25') feet nor less than ten (10') feet from the ground. In the business district, where the service is fed from alley construction, the location shall be at the ceiling of the first floor, if not less than ten (10') feet from the ground. The service bracket shall be located on the building at a point nearest to or most accessible to the supply lines of the Public Service Company. The service outlets shall be no more than twenty-five (25') feet nor less than ten (10') feet from the ground and must be so located as to not be within reach from any porch or stairs landing, and shall be so located as to afford direct unobstructed space for stringing the service drops from the service outlet to the Public Service Company's service mains. No permanent electric service smaller than No. 2 A. W. G. T W copper or equivalent will be accepted between the point where the service drops of the Electrical Supply Company terminate on the owners premises and the main line entrance switch. Such wire shall be enclosed in rigid metal conduit or E. M. T. up to 2". No. 6 A. W. G. or larger will be accepted for temporary service. Not less than three feet of each conductor shall be left at the service head for connection to the service wire from the Public Service Company's service drop. The service entrance conduit shall not be smaller than one and one-fourth (1-1/4") inches and shall be galvanized. The service entrance conduit of residences, apartments and combination residences and commercial or industrial establishments must be run exposed on the outside of the building from the point where said conduit contacts the service drops of Public Service Company, to the meter of the Public Service Company. The service entrance cable shall not be used as a feeder within any building. Aluminum conductor will be acceptable only upon conforming with specific conditions and specifications to be promulgated by the City Electrical Board. PART II, SECTION 3 OF ORDINANCE NO. 110, known as the Electrical Code of the City of Pearland, Texas, Paragraph 2, part of Line 12 and part of Line 13 is amended to read 0.15 for each lighting fixture instead of . 50. -2 - Due to the fact that there is not now in existence within the City of Pearland an Ordinance or regulation properly governing the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment, wiring and appliances within said City and that an imperative public necessity exists for the passage of this Ordinance without the reading of same on successive meetings, said requirement is hereby suspended and this Ordinance and amendments shall take effect from and after its passage and it is so ordained.
