LICENSING FEE; AUTHORIZING REVOCATION OF LICENSES; REQUIRING
PERMITS TO PERFORM ELECTRICAL WORK AND PRESCRIBING FEES: , :. ' .
PROVIDING EXCEPTIONS; REGULATING QUALITY, TYPE AND KIND OF
ELECTRICAL MATERIAL AND MANNER OF INSTALLATION THEREOF; REFERRING
TO THE LATEST REGULARLY PUBLISHED NATIONAL ELECTRIC CODE AND
ADOPTING SAME; REQUIRING PERMITS FOR INSTALLATION OF ELECTRICAL
WIRING, ETC., AND PRESCRIBING FEES THEREFOR; PROVIDING FOR APPOINT-
MENT OF ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR AND INSPECTION OF ALL ELECTRICAL WORK;
PROHIBITING ELECTRICAL SUPPLY COMPANIES FROM FURNISHING ELECTRIC
CURRENT UNLESS AUTHORIZED BY CITY INSPECTOR; PRESCRIBING INSPECTION
FEE, PROVIDING PENALTY; CONTAINING SEPARABILITY CLAUSE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS:
Part I
SECTION 1:
That there is hereby created a Board of Electricians.
Such board shall consist of the following persons appointed by the
Mayor with the consent of the City Council:
1. One licensed electrical contractor who shall have had
at least ten (10) years active experience as an el-
ectrical contractor.
2. One licensed electrician who shall have had at least
five (5) years active experience as an electrician.
3. One person experienced in electrical design, pre-
ferably an employee of the local company furnishing
power to the city.
4. The Chief Electrical Inspector who shall be an ex-
officio member.
5. One registered professional engineer who shall be
an ex-officio member.
6. The Fire Marshal who shall be an ex-officio member.
The members of the Board shall hold office from the date of
appointment until the date of re -appointment or until their suc-
cessors have been appointed. Numbers 1 and 3 above shall serve
for a term of two years beginning on or about January 1 of odd
numbered years. Number 2 above shall serve for a term of two
years beginning on or about January 1 of even numbered years.
The duties and functions of the Board shall be to convene at
the request of the City Council to review the electrical code and
recommend amendments to the Council as needed for unusual problems.
The Board and Chief Electrical Inspector shall compose and ad-
minister examinations to determine the issuance of licenses to el-
ectrical contractors, master, and journeyman electricians.
The Board shall, as soon after January 1 of each year, elect
a chairman and a secretary from its membership. The secretary
shall maintain records of Board meetings and other records as the

Board may direct. A permanent file of these records shall be main-
tained in the office of the City Secretary.
SECTION 2:
That there is hereby created the position of Electrical Ins-
pector (s) who shall be appointed by the chief executive officer of
the City. One such appointee shall be designated as Chief Electrical
Inspector and shall have direct supervision of all Electrical Ins-
pectors and such clerical employees as may be assigned to his office.
The Chief Electrical Inspector shall be a fully competent
electrical technician well versed in the regulations of the National
Electrical Code. He shall be of good moral character and business
integrity. He shall, during his tenure of office, be supplied with
a Master Electrician's License without charge which he shall sur-
render upon termination of his tenure of office. He may retain
his license without taking examination by paying the standard license
fee provided he has been Chief Electrical Inspector for a period of
one (1) year.
It shall be unlawful for any Electrical Inspector to engage
in or have any financial interest in any concern selling, installing,
or maintaining electrical wiring, apparatus, devices, appliances,
fixtures, or equipment within the jurisdiction of the City, either
directly or indirectly, at any time during his tenure of office.
SECTION 3:
(a) All applicants for licensing shall file written notice
with the City Secretary. It shall be the duty of the City Secretary
to require filing of bond where bond is required by the ordinance.
An applicant shall be entitled to a license of the character for
which he has been certified, which license shall be signed by
the Mayor and City Secretary.
(1) Electrical Contractor License
A person desiring to contractfor and engage in the busi-
ness of installing, erecting or repairing electrical wires, con-
ductors, molding ducts, race -ways or conduit, electrical machinery,
apparatus, devices, systems or instrumentation shall first obtain
an Electrical Contractor's License. All construction shall adhere
to the provisions of this Ordinance and of the National Electrical
Code.
Each applicant for an Electrical Contractor License shall
as a condition for the issuance of same furnish a surety bond pay-
able to the City of Pearland in the amount of One Thousand ($1,000.)
with such sureties as the Mayor and City Council shall approve,
and in a form approved by the City Attorney. Said bond shall state
that the bonded Electrical Contractor will comply with the laws and
ordinances relating to electrical wiring and construction and will
pay all damage costs and expenses caused by his employees' or
agent's negligence or failure to comply with such laws and ordinance,

Each holder of an Electrical Contractor License shall qualify as a
Master Electrician, or employ at all times a holder of a Master
Electrician License who shall be in direct charge of all electrical
wiring or construction.
Each holder of an Electrical Contractor License shall display
his company name or identification on each vehicle used in con-
junction with preforming electrical work under this ordinance.
This identification shall be a permanent type with a minimum of three
(3) inch letters.
(2) Electrical Sign Contractor License
A person desiring to contractfor and engage in the business
of installing, repairing and maintaining all kinds of electrical
signs, including gas tube signs, gas tube decorative or illuminating
systems, shall first obtain an Electrical Sign Contractor License.
All construction shall adhere to the provisions of this Ordinance
and of the National Electrical Code.
Each applicant for an Electrical Sign Contractor License
shall as a condition for the issuance of same furnish a surety
bond payable to the City of Pearland in the amount of One Thousand
Dollars ($1,000.00), with such sureties as the Mayor and City Council
shall approve, and in a form approved by the City Attorney. Said
bond shall state that the bonded Electrical Sign Contractor will
comply with the laws and ordinances relating to the wiring and
installation of electric signs and will pay all damage costs and
expenses caused by his employee's or agent's negligence or failure
to comply with such laws and ordinances. Each holder of an El-
ectrical Sign Contractor License shall qualify as a Master Sign
Electrician or employ at all times a holder of a Master Sign
Electrician License, who shall be in direct charge of all electrical
sign wiring and construction.
Each holder of an Electrical Sign Contractor License shall
display his company name or identification on each vehicle used in
conjunction with performing electrical work under this Ordinance.
The identification shall be permanent type with a minimum of three
(3) inch letters.
The preceding provisions on Electrical Sign Contractor
License pertain specifically and only to the maintenance and erection
of the internal wiring of said electrical signs or lighted billboards
All electrical supply circuits to, or electrical services for said
electrical signs or lighted billboards or maintenance thereto shall
be performed under the supervision of the holder of a Master El-
ectricians License.
(3) Master Electrican License
A person desiring to superintend electrical installations
under the holder of an Electrical Contractor or Electric Sign Con-
tractor License according to the provisions of this Ordinance shall
first obtain a Master Electrician License.

Applicants for Master Electricians License shall:
(a) Be not less than twenty-one years of age;
(b) Be a Journeyman Electrician licensed by the City of
Pearland or have a valid Master Electricans License of another Texas
City with at least five years actual experience directly preceding
date of application, such experience to be practical experience
in installing wires, conductors and electrical equipment used inside
of buildings for the transmission of electrical current for light,
heat or power purposes, and must satisfy the Board of Electricians
as to his qualifications, or he must be a graduate electrical en-
gineer of a recognized college or university with at least two years
actual practical experience directly preceding date of application;
(c) Successfully pass a written examination on the con-
tents of this Ordinance, of the National Electrical Code, and on
the practical aspects of electrical wiring. Said examination shall
be offered at least quarterly by the Board of Electricans on such
date as shall be established by the Board. Examination dates shall
be announced by posting in the City Hall of Pearland a minimum of
thirty (30) days prior to examination date.
(d) Persons desiring to take examination shall notify
the City at least 24 hours prior to the posted time of tests by
depositing $5.00 with the City Secretary. This $5.00 fee shall be
applied to the license fee if issued, but in no case will it be
refunded.
(4)
Master Sign Electricians License
A person desiring to superintend a business of installing,
erecting, or repairing electrical signs or lighted billbo ards under
the holder of an Electrical Sign Contractor License according to the
provisions of this Ordinance shall first obtain a Master Sign
Electricians License.
Applicants for a Master Sign Electricians License shall:
(a) Be not less than twenty-one years of age;
(b) Have been a Journeyman Sign Electrician for three
(3) years;
(c) Pass an oral examination administered by the Chief
Electrical Inspector.
(5) Journeyman Electrician License
A person desiring to do work as an electrician for the
holder of an Electrical Contractor or Electrical Sign Contractor
License and under the direct supervision of the holder of a Master
Electrician or Master Sign Electrician License according to the
provisions of this ordinance shall first obtain a Journeyman El-
ectrician License or Journeyman Sign Electrician License.
(6) Apprentice Electricians
Except as is totherwise provided herein, those persons
undertaking electrical work as defined in this ordinance, under
the direction and constant control of a licensed Master or Journey-

man Electrician, and who have been properly registered with the City
of Pearland, shall be known as Apprentice Electricians.
(b) Any holder of a license of any class shall furnish
the Chief Electrical Inspector with his permanent mailing address.
(c) Any electrician's license may be suspended or revoked
by the Board of Electricians should the holder violate any ordinance
relating to or governing electrical construction or repairing. Any
person whose license shall have been revoked shall not again be
licensed within one year from the date of such action, but no license
shall be suspended or revoked unless the licensee shall have been
given an opportunity to appear and be heard by the Board. He
shall have had at least ten days written notice by registered letter
setting forth the charges against him and the date and place for
appeal.

(d) There shall be charged the following fees for
(1) Electrical Contractor License - $30.00 new and
$20.00 for each annual renewal.
(2) Electric Sign Contractor License - $15.00 new
and $10.00 for each annual renewal.
(3) Master Electrician License _- $15.00 new and
$10.00 for each annual renewal.
(4) Master Sign Electrician License - $15.00 new
and $10.00 for each annual renewal.
(5) Journeyman Electrician License - $5.00 new and
$2.00 for each annual renewal.
(6) Apprentice Electrician - $.50 for registration.
(e) Each license issued under this ordinance shall be
renewed annually on or before December 31. A grace period of
thirty days (30) shall be allowed for renewal. No electrical work
shall be performed by a person or company whose license is in the
grace period. After expiration of the grace period, the holder
shall be subject to all the requirements for obtaining a new license.
If within the thirty day grace period the holder of a Master Elect-
rician License issued under this Ordinance desires to place his
license on an inactive status, he may do so by the payment of a
five dollar ($5.00) fee. This fee shall entitle the holder thereof
to maintain his Master Electrician License on an inactive status
through December 31 of each year by paying such fee. The holder
of an inactive Master Electrician License may return his license
to an active status by paying the yearly fee for renewal. The
inactive status fee shall not be applied to the renewal fee.
Persons obtaining any license under this Ordinance after
September 1 shall only be required to pay one-half the stipulated
fee. All licenses, regardless of their date of issuance, shall be
renewed on or before December 31 of each year.

SECTION L :
It shall be unlawful for any person, not the holder of an un-
expired, unrevoked license, as set forth in this Ordinance, to
engage in any business or do any work in connection with installing,
maintaining, repairing, extending, constructing, or replacing any
electrical wiring, apparatus, or equipment for the utilization of
the service of any supply company providing electrical energy for
light, heat, or power, to or for any building, structure or premises
in the City of Pearland. It shall also be unlawful for the holder
of any license issued under the terms of this Ordinance to engage
in business or work under same, other than such business or work
authorized by the class of license held.
SECTION 5:
No licensed Electrical Contractor shall transfer his license
to any other person, for the purpose of obtaining a permit, or to
do any work under his license. A licensed Electrical Contractor
may authorize an employee or associate to obtain a permit in his
name and to do work, but only under his direction. Validity of
employment or association may be required by the Chief Electrical
Inspector.
No Electrical Contractor shall send any person on any job
(requiring a license) in the capacity of an electrician unless such
person is the holder of, and in possession of a Master Electricians
License or a Journeyman Electrician License,
PART II
SECTION 1:
A permit will be required to do any electrical construction of
any character, install any electrical wiring, apparatus or equip-
ment, or make extensions or changes to existing wiring systems
installed for the utilization of the service of the supply company
in providing electrical energy for lights, heat or power within
or attached to any building. Applications for such permit des-
cribing the work to be done, shall be made in writing to the El-
ectrical Inspector by person, firm or corporation installing the
work. The application shall be accompanied by such plans, spec-
ifications and schedules as may be necessary to determine whether
the installation as described will be in conformity with the re-
quirements, and if the applicant has complied with all provisions
of this ordinance, a permit for such installation shall be issued.
SECTION 2:
Permits to do electrical work of all kinds of electrical
installations and construction shall be issued only to a holder of
an "Electrical Contractor" license under the provisions of this
ordinance unless otherwise stated.
Permits for wiring, installing and connecting electric signs,
including gas or vacuum sign, gas or vacuum decorative gas or
vacuum illuminating systems only, shall be issued to the holder
of an "Electric Sign Contractor" licensed under the provisions of

'this ordinance.
HOME OWNERS RIGHTS: Nothing herein contained shall prohibit any
bonafide home owner from personally installing electrical conductors
or equipment within his own home provided that the owner shall file

Inspector as to his ability to install electrical wiring; apply for
and secure a permit; pay required fee; do work in accordance with
this ordinance; apply for an inspection and receive certificate of
approval. This excludes all commercial property.
Personal installation by an owner under these HOME OWNERS RIGHTS
shall be by himself, for himself, on his own homestead premises,
without compensation, and no person shall be employed to assist
him in any way on such work.
SECTION 3:
Permit shall not be issued by the Electrical Inspector until
the following fees have been paid, provided however, the minimum
fee for issuance of permit shall be $1.00.

SECTION 4:
For the purpose of this ordinance, to regulate the issuing
of permits, and in fixing the inspection fees covering same, each
recording watt hour meter and all sign feeder wires and branch cir-
cuit wires connecting the same shall be considered as one service
and a separate permit must be issued for each service.
SECTION 5:
All electrical construction, and all materials and appliances
used in connection with the installation, maintenance and operation
of electrical wiring, apparatus, or equipment for utilization of
the service for the supply company in providing electrical energy
for light, heat or power, inside or attached to buildings or pro-
perty within the jurisdiction of the City of Pearland shall conform'
to such special rules and regulations as may be embodied in this
or other ordinances of the City of Pearland, and to the latest
regularly published rules and regulations of the National Board of
Fire Underwriters (National Electrical Code) for the installation
of wiring and apparatus for electrical purposes, as they are now
established and such rules and regulations are hereby adopted and
approved as part of this ordinance.
SECTION 6:
Approved metallic raceways (such as rigid conduit or steel
tubing), under -floor cast -in -place raceways, or BXL shall be re-
quired for all wires used to conduct current for light, heat, or
power, in the wiring of all new buildings and in all old buildings
or additions thereof within the fire limits of the City, as they
are now or may hereafter be established, and in churches, schools,
hotels, theaters and commercial buildings within the jurisdiction
of the City of Pearland, Texas.
Gasoline filling stations will be wired according to the latest
rules and regulations of the National Board of Fire Underwriters.
The use of BX cable is not permitted. BXL cable is to be
used only where conduit or metal raceway is impractable.

Emergency wiring may be permitted for a period not to exceed
120 days and application for same must be accompanied by a letter
to the Electrical Inspector signed both by the Electrical Contractor
applying for the permit and by the owner or occupants of the building
desiring installation, signifying that the emergency work will be
promptly removed by the Electrical Contractor on or before the
expiration of 120 days or lesser period of time that may be desig-
nated by the Electrical Inspector.
SECTION 7:
The service conduit and wires leading from the outside of the
customer's building to the meter cabinet and main line switch are
to be supplied, owned and controlled by the property owner but the
installation of service drops and the connection of these wires to
the supply lines is to be made by Public Service Company owning and
operating the supply lines. The owner must provide a location
for brackets or other attachments to the building to which the
service wires are to be connected. Such location to be not more than
18 inches from the service conduit outlet. On residences of one
story or more, the location shall be as high as is practical on
the building, but in no event shall it be more than 25' nor less thar
10' from the ground. In the business district, where the service
is fed from alley construction, the location shall be at the ceding
of the first floor, if not less than 10' from the ground. The
location for the service bracket must be on the building at a
point nearest to or more accessible to the supply lines of the
Public Service Company.
The service outlets shall be no more than 25' nor less than
10' from the ground and must be so located as to not be within reach
from any porch or stairs landing, and shall be so located as to
afford direct unobstructedspace for stringing the service drops
from the service outlet to the Public Service Company's service
mains.
No service wire of size smaller than No. 2 A. W. G. copper
(100 AMP. service) or equivalent will be allowed between the point
where the service drops of the Power Company terminate on the owner's
premises and the main line entrance switch, and such wire shall be
enclosed in rigid metal conduit or E. M. T. All groundsmust be
driven or made ground size and depth according to the National
Electric Code.
Not less than three feet of each conductor shall be left at
the service head for connection to service wire from the Public
Service Company service drop. Where underground service is supplied
to the meter service and where the switch box is designed for al-
uminum and copper wires, aluminum conductors wil be allowed.
The service entrance conduit shall not be smaller than 14t
and shall be protected from corosion by the galvanized process.
The service entrance conduit of residences, apartments, and
combination residences and commercial or industrial establishments

must be run exposed on the outside of the building from the point
where said conduit contacts the service drops of the Public Service
Company.
The service entrance cable shall not be used as a feeder with-
in any building.
Aluminum conductors will be acceptable only upon conforming
with specific conditions and specifications as defined by the
Board of Electricians.
SECTION 3:
All meter loops for the installation of electric meters to
measure the service rendered by Public Service Company shall be
in meter cabinets furnishedby the Public Service Company and in-
stalled by the owner or his agent. Said meter loop must be ahead
of or on the line side of the main line switches.
Meters installed to measure the service rendered to residences,
apartments, and combination residences and commercial or industrial
establishments shall be set on the outside of the building at a
point not more than 6 ft. nor less than 5 ft. from the ground to
the dial of the meter, closed -in rear or front porches are not
considered as outdoor locations.
For convenience of ready access, all meter cabinets shall be
located on outside walls of buildings nearest the point of service
except in cases where exposure to mechanical injury by vehicle,
as in commercial section, make same impracti^41, or by nature of
the premises, then location shall be designateby the Public Service
Company or its agent.
Where changes or additions are being made to existing elect-
rical installations, necessitating changes or additions to service
entrance or to the service switch or to the meter loop, the service
entrance conduit and main line switch and meter loop shall be
changed to conform to the provisions of this ordinance.
SECTION 9:
Public Service Company furnishing electric current to the
public under franchise granted by the City of Pearland for lighting,
heating or power, shall have the right to install and connect or
disconnect and remove their meters and their protective devices
at their option.
Where meters are now installed at inaccessible places in
houses or buildings and Public Service Company desires to relocate
said meter loop for the convenience in rendering its service or
for the purpose of standardization of its service in the public
interest, it may, upon request to the Chief Electrical Inspector
have a licensed, electrical contractor reinstall meter loop at
a point desired by it and all such work so done at the request of
the Public Service Company shall be performed at its own expense
without cost to the owner.

PART III
SECTION 1:
(a) It shall be the duty of the Chief Electrical Inspector
or any duly authorized assistant, to issue permits for, and inspect
all electrical wiring apparatus or equipment for the utilization of
the Public Service Company in providing electrical energy for lights,
heat and power inside of or attached to the buildings or other
structures within the jurisdiction of the City of Pearland,to look
after the enforcement of laws, rules, and regulations relating to
same and to exercise a general supervision over all electrical
construction and over all electrical contractors and electricians
licensed to carry on their business or trade under the provisions
of this ordinance.
(b) It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation
to use any electrical current in or through any wiring apparatus
or fixtures installed after this ,ordinance takes effect for the
utilization of the service of the Supply Company in providing
electric energy for lights, heat or power in or on any building or
structure within the jurisdiction of the City of Pearland until the
same shall have been inspected and approved by the Electrical Ins-
pector and the Certificate hereinafter provided for shall have been
issued therefor.
If the Electrical Inspector is aware of electrical work being
done in the City, and if no permit has been obtained for such work,
he shall, by registered letter, notify the party in whose name
the electrical service is supplied according to the Electric Supply
Company records, that such party shall obtain a permit. If,
after ten (10) days no permit has been obtained the Electrical
Inspector shall notify the Electric Supply Company to discontinue
electrical service and same shall not be restored until permit is
obtained. During the above described ten day -period the owners
of the premises involved may show the Electrical Inspector that the
electrical work is not such that comes under the provisions of the
Electrical Code, and does not require a permit. Under such cir-
cumstances the electric service shall not be discontinued, and no
permit shall be required.
(c) It shall be unlawful for any Electrical Supply Company
operating under a franchise granted by the City of Pearland or from
any person, firm or corporation furnishing electric current for
light, heat and power to connect his, theirs or its distribution
system with any installation of wiring apparatus or fixtures instal-
led after this ordinance becomes effective in, or to any'building
or other structure within the jurisdiction of the City of Pearland
without having first received written permission from the Electrical
Inspector to furnish current for such wiring, apparatus, or fixtures;
such permission shall be given by the Electrical Inspector at any
time after the certificate hereinafter provided for shall have been
issued.

(d) When any electrical wiring, apparatus or fixtures covered
by a permit shall be found on inspection by the Chief Electrical
Inspector or his duly authorized assistant to conform to the rules
and regulations provided by this ordinance, he shall issue a final
certificate of inspection certifying that the wiring apparatus or
fixtures have been inspected and found to comply with the terms
of this ordinance, but no such certificate shall be issued until
such equipment is made to conform to such rules and regulations.
(e) The Electrical Inspector may also before such certificate
is issued, give temporary permission to connect and furnish el-
ectricity to any wiring, apparatus or fixtures for a period of
not exceeding thirty (30) days, if, in his opinion, such wiring,
apparatus, or fixtures are in such condition that current may be
safely connected therewith, and there exists an urgent necessity
for such use, when written application is filed with him requesting
such permission.
(f) The Chief Electrical Inspector or any duly authorized as-
sistant, is hereby empowered to inspect or reinspect all interior
wires and apparatus conducting or using electric current for lights,
heat or power providing this is done in such a manner so as not to
constitute an invasion of privacy; and when said conductors or
apparatus are found to be unsafe to life or property he shall notify
the person, firm or corporation, owning, using or operating them
to place the same in a safe and secure condition within twenty-
four (24) hours or within such further time as he shall determine
is necessary. Any person, firm or corporation failing or refusing
to repair or remove the same within twenty-four (24) hours or
within such further time as the Electrical Inspector shall determine
is necessary, after the receipts of such notice, shall be subject
to the penalty hereinafter provided.
(g) Dangerous wiring - Whenever any electrical conductor or
appliance used for any purpose in or on a building is, in the
opinion of the Electrical Inspector, contrary to the provisions
of this ordinance, he shall cause written notice to be served on
that person, firm, or corporation using such conductor or appliance
to discontinue the use of same and to correct the defective con-
ditions, hazards or violation of this ordinance within forty-eight
(48) hours or within ten days, as he may decree necessary, and
upon failure to conform with such notice, the Electrical Inspector
is hereby authorized and directed to cause the electrical service
wires supplying such unsafe conductor or appliance co be dis-
connected or cut off and requiring the same to remain cut off until
such defects, hazards or violations of this ordinance are remedied;
and that no person whether proprietor, agent or employee, whether
furnishing or using such conductor or appliance, shall use such
appliance or conductor without first obtaining written permission
to �do
so from the Electrical Inspector.
SECTION 2:
It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to hinder

or interfere with the Chief Electrical Inspector or any electrical
inspector in the discharge of his duties under this ordinance.
SECTION 3:
All plumbing and other piping or tube work must be in place
on work to be concealed before the electrical wiring is inspected,
and no such wiring will be considered as completed until all such
plumbing is in place.
Upon making an inspection of any electrical wiring or equipment
when same is found to have been installed in a satisfactory
manner, and in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance,
the inspector shall place a notice at the service switch or other
suitable place, stating that the electrical work has been inspected
and found to be in accordance with the rules as prescribed in the
provisions of this ordinance. It shall be unlawful to lath, seal
or in any manner conceal any electric wiring or equipment until the
same has been inspected and the notice posted as herewith required.
When the electrical work in any building or other structure
for which a permit has been obtained is ready for inspection,
notice in writing properly filled in upon blanks furnished at the
office of the Electrical Inspector, stating the location of the
work, and the name of the electrician doing the work, shall be
filed at the office of the Electrical Inspector.
As soon as possible thereafter the Electrical Inspector shall
notify the electrician in charge of the work when he will inspect
the same, and the Inspector shall test the work in the presence of
the electrician in any manner, and in accondance with the provisions
of this ordinance.
In large and complicated jobs the work may be inspected and
tested in sections on the approval of the Inspector.
A period of forty-eight (48) hours, exclusive of Sundays
and holidays shall be required in which to make inspection and re-
port.
If after the first visit to a job on written notice to inspect
same, it is necessary to return to reinspect same, or it is neces-
sary to reinspect any work, whether from a defect or the work not
being ready, the Inspector will return only on another written
notice, and not less than twenty-four (24) hours thereafter, and
shall charge a fee of $5.00 for so doing the second trip and $10.00
each trip thereafter, all other notices taking precedence.
After the entire completion of the work, a notice in the form
hereinabove provided shall be given the Inspector for a final ins-
pection and if he finds that the work has been satisfactorily done,
he shall issue a final certificate of inspection on the request of
the electrical contractor holding the permit, as provided for in
Part 3, Section 1 - (d) of this ordinance.
Final certificate of inspection shall not relieve the electri-
cal contractor of his responsibility for any defective work.

All electrical work shall be done in a workmanlike manner,
and to the entire satisfaction of the Electrical Inspector.
SECTION 4:
Any Electrical Contractor or Electrician violating any pro-
visions of this ordinance shall be subject to having his license
revoked or suspended for such length of time as the Board of El-
ectricians may determine after the hearing. Any such revocation
or suspension of a license shall notaffect any criminal prosecution
hereunder or present punishment by fine or violation hereof:
SECTION 5:
Any person violating any provision'of this 'ordinance, shall
upon conviction before the Corporation Court, be punished by a fine
not less than five ($5.00) dollars nor more than two hundred ($200.00)
dollars, and each day the said violation shall continuo shall be dee-
med a separate offense.
SECTION 6:
All ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistant herewith,
or in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance the same
shall be and are hereby repealed.
Invalidity of any part of provisions or requirement of this
ordinance, or invalidity of same as to any particular person or
class of persons shall not affect the validity of other parts,
provisions and requirements, or its validity to other persons
or class of persons as to whom it may validly apply.
