AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 9, SECTIONS 9-116
AND 9-153 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF
PEARLAND, TEXAS, BY ADDING AND DELETING SPECIFIC
PROVISIONS CONTAINED THEREIN, AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND,
TEXAS:
SECTION I.
That Section 9-116, Chapter 9 of the Code of Ordinances, City of
Pearland, Texas, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 9-116. Fees
(a) Permits shall not be issued under this article by the
electrical inspector until the following fees have been paid;
provided, however, the minimum fee for issuance of a permit
shall be five dollars ($5.00):
SERVICES:
All services $2.00 each
All meter loops $2.00 each
OUTLETS: (first four are included in
service and meter loop fees) $0.20 each
(All light, switch and receptacle openings and bell
ringing transformers are classed as outlets.)
LIGHTING FIXTURES:
Fixtures of one circuit or under and combination of
ceiling fan and lights $0.10 each
Each additional circuit, per fixture $0.50 each
(Any current -consuming device permanently attached to
an outlet for illuminating purposes shall be classed
as a fixture).
ELECTRICAL APPLICANCES - DOMESTIC:
Range receptacle $1.00 each
Clothes drier $1.00 each
Cooking tops $1.00 each
Ovens $1.00 each
Garbage Disposals $1.00 each
Dishwashers $1.00 each
Window Air Conditioner Receptacle $1.00 each
MOTORS, PERMANENTLY INSTALLED:
Up to but not including 1/2 H. P $0.50
1/2 H. P. and less than 10 H. P $2.00
10 H. P. and less than 50 H. P $3.00
50 H. P. and less than 100 H. P $6.00
100 H. P. and less than 150 H. P $8.00
150 H. P. and over $10.00
Motor control equipment is included in motor feesWhen future
motor outlets are installed they shall be charged for at one-
half the regular motor rates applying. The other one-half shall
be paid at the time the motors are installed.
MISCELLANEOUS:
Motion picture machines $4.00 each
Commercial sound equipment $2.00 each
Electric ranges $1.00 each
Electric water heaters $1.00 each
X-Ray Machines $3.00 each
Incandesent electric signs and incandescent gas or vacuum tube
signs, (shop inspection) $3.00 per KVA
Sign installation inspection $2.00 per KVA
Streamers and festoon lighting, per circuit$1.00 each
Permanently connected electrical appliances and equipment of any
nature not otherwise specified shall be charged as follows:
0 to 5 KW $0.50 each
Over 5 KW $0.10 per KW
Temporary installations, such as wood saws, floor -surfacing machines,
paint -spraying apparatus, and the like shall be charged for at the
rate of $2.00 per installation, plus regular service and loop charge.
Temporary lighting installations shall be charged for at the rate of
$2.00 per installation.
Temporary installations, such as carnivals, or similar installations
for amusement, show, display, or similar uses shall be charged for
at the rate of $10.00 for the installation of 10 KVA or less, and
all load above 10 KVA shall be charged for at the rate of $0.50 per
KVA. For the purposes of this classification one horsepower of
motor load shall be considered as one KVA.
Temporary saw pole (per installation) $5.00
Temporary cut -in made permanent $5.00
Additions to old work shall be charged for at the same rate as new work.
Reconnection fee $5.00
(a) Double Fees. A11 electrical permit, inspection, fixture and
appliance fees shall apply except that if any person shall make
application for permit as provided herein, after the work has been
started or after the work has been partially completed or concealed,
such person shall pay double the fee or fees which would ordinarily
be required."
SECTION II.
That Section 9-153, Article VII, Chapter 9 of the Code of
Ordinances, City of Pearland, Texas be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"Section 9-153. Adopted.
All electrical construction, and all materials and appliances
used in connection with the installation, maintenance and op-
eration of electrical wiring, apparatus or equipment for
utilization of the service for the supply company in providing
electrical energy for light, heat or power, inside or attached
to buildings or property within the jurisdiction of the city
shall conform to such special rules and regulations as may be
embodied in this or other ordinances of the City of Pearland,
and to the 1975 Edition of the rules and regulations of the
National Board of Fire Underwriters (National Electrical Code)
for the installation or wiring and apparatus for electrical
purposes, as they are now established and such rules and reg-
ulations are hereby adopted and approved as part of this chapter."
SECTION III.
It is the intention of the City Council, and it is hereby ordained,
that the provisions of this ordinance shall become and be made a part
of the Code of Ordinances, City of Pearland, Texas.
SECTION IV.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption on second and final reading.
