R96-37 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO APPLY TO THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR GRANT FUNDS TO CONDUCT A SAFE AND SOBER WAVE SELECTIVE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the City of Pearland wishes to apply for a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation for the funding of a Safe and Sober Wave Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP); and WHEREAS, the goal of this project is to reduce traffic speeds in excess of the posted speed limit and increase safety belt and safety seat usage rates through enhanced enforcement and public information during the Labor Day holiday weekend; now, therefore, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: Section 1. That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to make application to the Texas Department of. Transportation for grant funds as set forth below: Funding for a Safe and Sober Wave Selective Traffic Enforcement Program estimated at $2,500100 from Federal Grant Funds, administered through the Texas Department of Transportation, said grant to be federally funded in its entirety with no matching requirements. Section 2. The City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to sign any and all documents necessary to carry out this grant application. RESOLUTION NO.
