1984-07-24 CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING MINUTESMINUTES OF THE .REGULAR MEETING OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXA5 HELD ON_JULY 24, 198.4, AT 7:00 P.M..IN THE PEARLAND COMMUNITY CENTERr 3523 LIBERTY, PEARLAND, TEXAS. ~~ i The regular meeting was called to order with the following members present: Dan Keller - Chairperson James Gilbert - Vice Chairperson Gail Birdsong - Commissioner Mary Hickling - Director ****** Guests: Chief Glenn Stanford, Captain Ron Coleman, Sgt. Bob Walters, Sgt. Bob Cuna, Officer Bill Colson, Sgt. Jim Templin APPROVAL OF MINUTES Chairperson Keller called the meeting to order and declared that the minutes of the June 5, 1984 meeting be approved as circulated. The Commission agreed. A letter dated 7-18-84, announcing the resignation of Bruce Clawson was received as information by the Commission. A letter dated 7-3-84 from Chief Stanford was received as information /'', and set aside for discussion during executive session. Director Hickling reminded the Commission of the seminar to be held in Pearland on August 7 and 8 by TCLEOSE. Expenses submitted by Director Hickling were accepted and received as information by the Commission. Chairperson Keller made a motion that the Commission reconsider those motions relating to evaluations of police officers in Pearland.. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Birdsong.. Motion. carried. Commissione Gilbert made a motion that the interim evaluation forms be made ineffective and no official evaluation be done until TCLEOSE can have their forms ready. Motion carried. The. motion was made by Keller, to reconsider the action taken at the June 5, 1984 meeting, concerning medical exams.. The motion was then seconded by Gilbert. Motion carried. Commissioner Gilbert recommended the Medical Screening Group to be considered as the service named by the Commission to take care of ~~ medical examinations for classified and entrance level employees under civil service. Keller suggested that Commission be given copies of the material supplied by Medical Screening Group for study purposes. Gilbert moved to resend the motion concerning the effective date of the medical examinations, and to postpone that subject until the September meeting. Motion seconded by Keller. Motion carried. Keller moved that the Commission consider naming Dr. Rau as acting. physician for classified employees until the subject can be acted upon, Motion was seconded by Gilbert...motion carried. Executive Session was called,,for consideration of personnel information,.at 8:12 p.m. Meeting reconvened at 8:35 p.m. The next regular meeting of the Pearland Civil Service will be held on August 14, 1984.
