The regular meeting was called to order with the following present:

APPRWAL OF MINUI'FS
Minutes of the October 25, 1982 meeting were declared approved as suYxnitted,by
Chairperson Keller. The Commission agreed.
ACTIVITY•
A general discussion was held with the audience concerning Civil Service, its
adoption, and it's benefits.
Chairperson Keller reported on the letter to be sent from the Commission
concerning positions that existed prior to, and positions that are in existence
now, with the passage of Ordinance 450. Tom Lay suggested that this was a
question which needed to be addressed to the City Attorney and the City Manager.
Commissioners Birdsong and Sanchez had no~report.
Director Hickling reported on the entrance level examination to be conducted on
November 2, 1982. Several items were presented to the Commission for their
consideration.
Cca~missoner Sanchez motioned that the Pearland Civil Service Rules and
Regulations be approved and posted, with a provision added to rules concerning
the effective date of the Commission Rules and Regulations. The motion carried
unanimously. It was agreed that the posting of the rules and regulations
would be no later than November 8, 1982.
The Commission agreed to add a copy of the classification plan as provided by
Ordinance 450 and a copy of 1269m to each of the police officer's Civil Service
Rules and Regulations notebook as an appendix.

The meting was adjourned at 9:10 P.M.

'I7~e policemen's Civil Service Rules which were adopted by the PoliceTren's Civil
Service Commission at a regular meeting on Nov~nber 1, 1982 will become effective
the eighth (8th) day of November, 1982, it being further provided that any
suspension or disciplinary action that was assessed prior to November 1, 1982,
will not be affected by the adoption of said rules in any manner whatsoever
but that said suspension or disciplinary action taken will remain and continue
in full force, effect, and validity.
