Predicta Casemod
.-•► 3
i
The Philco Predicta television set, built from 1958-1960, has `k..
always been a glorious piece of modern design, but even the - —
contemporary reproductions were not sufficiently functional to -=u N - r 1 •
be much more than a collector object.
Onomy saw the Predicta in a whole new way and
transformed them into fully functional and powerful Ili
experimental computers, complete with game console,
corporate video game and video conferencing capabilities.
The exhibit was built for Sun Microsystems to demonstrate an
experimental computer. We preserved as much as possible
of the original aesthetic, while creating an object that could
serve as a day-to-day computer.
Through modifying a computer case and chassis, Onomy
created a truly retro-futurist object and functional piece of
equipment, which drew significant attention and accolades. of
This unique machine is a perfect model that embraces both
the old and the new.
