*Note: The employee is responsible for the remaining balance.
The City's proposed contributions include a 70% contribution towards the dependents coverage.
Employees will be responsible for the remaining balance. The City's contribution towards the
dependent coverage is based on 70% of the "Basic Plan" rates. Employees may elect to buy up into
the "Premium Plan", but the City's contribution will remain the same as the "Basic Plan", therefore
employees will pay more for the "Premium Plan". Employees are pleased to have two plans to
choose from.
They have also been pleased with the services that Aetna provides. Aetna provides a high quality of
customer service and the employees' issues and/or conflicts are addressed promptly. On several
occasions representatives from Aetna have contacted medical providers in regards to billing issues
and/or conflicts with services being provided by the medical providers.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
It is recommended that the City of Pearland Employee Benefits Trust approve the renewal agreement
with Aetna for the employee health benefits for a one year term beginning October 1, 2008 through
September 30, 2009.
