1999-04-26 CITY COUNCIL AND PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION JOINT PUBLIC HEARING MEETING MINUTESN • MINUTES - JOINT PUBLIC HEARING OF THE CITY COUNCIL AND THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD APRIL 26, 1999, AT 6:30 P.M., IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CITY HALL, 3519 LIBERTY DRIVE, PEARLAND, TEXAS. A series of Joint Public Hearings was called to order at 6:31 PM. PURPOSE OF HEARING Request of owners for an amendment to the Land Use and Urban Development Ordinance of said City from Classification Suburban Development District (SD) to Light Industrial District (M-1) on the following described properties, to -wit: Legal Description: Being approximately 10.00 acres out of tract 4, H.T. & B. R.R. Co. survey, A-505 & referenced as buffer #505-8000-007, plat records of Brazoria Co.,, TX (13201 Stone Road) Owner: John M. Holm 1111 Moores-Tiki Island Galveston, TX 77554 Planning and Zoning Chairperson Mary Starr read the purpose of the hearing into the record. Director of Planning and Community Development Dennis Smith presented the location of the proposed zone change. 669 III. PERSONS WISHING TO SPEAK FOR THE PROPOSED REQUESTS none IV. PERSONS WISHING TO SPEAK AGAINST THE PROPOSED REQUESTS Jim Mooney, 13206 Stone Road, stated that he and his son both own property across the street from this. He explained that the existing business is no problem, however, he is concerned about other industrial type businesses that may move in in the future with this type of zoning on the property. He stated that this is primarily a residential area. V. COUNCIL/PLANNING COMMISSION/STAFF DISCUSSION Councilmember Richard Tetens asked what type of business is there now. Mr. Mooney stated that they refurbish industrial type trailers, etc. He added that they have been in business about twenty (20) years. He also added that approximately ten to twelve (10-12) years ago they installed an area for sand blasting. Director of Planning and Community Development Dennis . Smith stated that this area is residential on the comprehensive plan. VI. ADJOURNMENT The Joint Public Hearing to consider Zone Change Application No. 693 adjourned at 6:39 PM. APPLICATION NO. 606 I. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 6:40 PM. I1. PURPOSE OF HEARING Request of owners for an amendment to the Land Use and Urban Development Ordinance of said City from Classification Suburban Development District (SD) to General Business District (GB) on the following described properties, to -wit: Legal Description: Being 0.9091 acre tract out of Lot 9, the Northeast '/4 of the Q Southwest 1/40f Section 14, H. T. & B. R.R. Co. survey, A- 509, plat records of Brazoria Co., TX (6326 Cottonwood Street) Owner: Clarence F. & Patricia Ryan 6326 Cottonwood Pearland, TX 77581 Planning and Zoning Chairperson Mary Starr read the purpose of the hearing into the record. Director of Planning and Community Development Dennis Smith presented the location of the proposed zone change. He stated that the property owners could not be here tonight, however, this application will be considered at the next Planning and Zoning meeting when the owner will be present.
