R97-63 10-27-97 RESOLUTION NO. R97-63 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO SUBMIT FORMAL COMMENTS TO THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ADMINISTRATION (" FEMA") REGARDING THE CITY'S OBJECTIONS TO THE SPECIAL FLOOD HAZARD AREA MAPPING AS PRESENTED IN THE PRELIMINARY FLOOD INSURANCE STUDY (" FIS") AND FLOOD INSURANCE RATE MAP ("FIRM") OF THE CLEAR CREEK WATERSHED. WHEREAS, the FIS and FIRM must be updated periodically in accordance with federal law to preserve and maintain the City's eligibility in the National Flood Insurance Program; and WHEREAS, FEMA updated said FIS and FIRM in reliance upon the "C/ear Creek Regional Flood Control Plan, Hydraulic Baseline Report for Harris County Flood Control District and Texas Water Development Board,; dated September 1991, and the "Mar~,'s Creek H~,draulic Model Update", dated May 1997, by Dannenbaum Engineering Corporation; and WHEREAS, said FIS and FIRM do not accurately correlate in all instances with said studies; now, therefore, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: Section 1. That the City Manager or his designee is authorized to submit formal comments to FEMA regarding the City's objections to the Special Flood Hazard Area Mapping as presented in the preliminary FIS and FIRM of the Clear Creek Watershed, including but not limited to the fact that said FIS and FIRM do not accurately correlate in all instances with the studies upon which said mapping was to be based.
