R97-52 08-25-97RESOLUTION NO. R97-52 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, DECLARING THE INTENT OF THE CITY COUNCIL TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENTS FOR THE CREATION OF MUNICIPAL UTILITY DISTRICTS WITHIN THE CORPORATE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND WHEN AND IF THE COUNCIL FINDS IT BENEFICIAL TO THE CITY. WHEREAS, the City is authorized to enter into agreements creating municipal utility districts within its city limits ("in-city MUDs"); and WHEREAS, in-city MUDs provide a mechanism by which a more comprehensive tax base may be developed within the City; and WHEREAS, in-city MUDs allow for the extension of utilities without additional costs incurred by current users; and WHEREAS, in-city MUDs provide development incentives without disenfranchising citizens; and WHEREAS, in-city MUDs allow for a variety of housing and amenities which might otherwise be unavailable; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: Section 1. It is the intent of the City Council to accept and authorize the creation of municipal utility districts within the city limits of the City of Pearland, Texas when and if the Council finds it beneficial to the City.
