R97-40 07-14-97RESOLUTION NO. R97-40 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO APPLY FOR AND EXECUTE ALL AGREEMENTS RELATED TO THE 1997 TEXAS PARKS AND WILDLIFE DEPARTMENT RECREATIONAL TRAILS PROGRAM AND ALLOCATING MATCHING FUNDS FROM THE CITY OF PEARLAND. WHEREAS, hike and bike trails are not currently available in Pearland for our citizen's recreational use and enjoyment; and WHEREAS, the City of Pearland Parks, Recreation and Beautification Board has identified recreational hike and bike trails as the second priority in the City's Park Master Plan adopted by City Council; and WHEREAS, funds have been identified through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department supporting the development of recreational trails in Texas; and WHEREAS, the proposed recreational trail will provide the first phase of the trail system planned for Independence Park, and will connect Independence Park with Pasternak Park; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: Section 1. That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to submit an application to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for a recreational trail, and execute all necessary agreements as required under the grant guidelines. Section 2. That matching funds, not to exceed fifty percent (50%) ofthetotal project cost, are hereby allocated from the 1997 Certificates of Obligation. RESOLUTION NO.
