1996-10-07 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTESMINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON OCTOBER 7, 1996, AT 6:00 P. M. IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CITY HALL, 3519 LIBERTY DRIVE, PEARLAND, TEXAS. The meeting was called to order with the following present: Mayor Councilmember Mayor Pro Tem/Councilmember Councilmember Councilmember City Attorney City Secretary Tom Reid Richard Tetens (came in at 6:25 p.m.) Jerry Richardson Kevin Cole Helen Beckman Amy McCullough Yolanda Benitez Others present: Assistant City Manager Glen Erwin, Police Chief Mike Hogg. Members Absent: Councilmember Larry Wilkins APPOINTMENT OF ONE (1) REPRESENTATIVE AND ONE (1) ALTERNATE TO THE HGAC 1997 GENERAL ASSEMBLY. Councilmember Richardson moved to appoint Mayor Tom Reid as the representative and Councilmember Richard Tetens as the alternate to the HGAC 1997 General Assembly. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Beckman. Voting "Aye" - Councilmembers Beckman, Richardson and Cole. Voting "No" - None. Councilmembers Tetens and Wilkins were absent from the Council Chambers. Motion passed 3 to 0. OTHER BUSINESS: EXECUTIVE SESSION UNDER TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE 124 ' ""� SECTION 551.072 - DELIBERATION REGARDING REAL PROPERTY - OILER DRIVE AND CENTENNIAL BOULEVARD RIGHT-OF-WAY ACQUISITION. The Council adjourned into Executive Session at 6:04 p.m. The Council returned to Open Session at 6:43 p.m. NEW BUSINESS (Continued): DIRECTION TO STAFF CONCERNING ACQUISITION OF OILER DRIVE AND CENTENNIAL BOULEVARD RIGHT-OF-WAY. Councilmember Cole moved to authorize the city staff to negotiate settlement of condemnation suits with owners of property necessary for the right-of-way acquisitions for Centennial Boulevard and Oiler Drive. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Richardson. Voting "Aye" - Councilmembers Beckman, Tetens, Richardson, and Cole. Voting "No" - None. Councilmember Wilkins was absent from the Chamber.
