QUESTION AND ANSWER PERIOD:
The Mayor and Council inquired about the reason for not extending the proposed
annexation area to the 100 foot strip at this time. Mr. Burdine explained that the City was
basically concentrating on getting the portion that would include the Pine Oaks
Subdivision. He noted that the city can go back at a later date and annex the remaining
portion. After additional questions regarding adding this area now, Mr. Burdine explained
that we would have to go through the entire process if the Council wished to increase
the size of the proposed annexation area.
Councilmember Cole inquired about the proximity of Lawhon Elementary school to the
proposed annexation area. Councilmember Cole also inquired about the location of the
proposed water treatment plant. Assistant City Manager Burdine stated that it is being
built on Garden Road at Hickory Slough and it is under construction at this time.
