BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: Section 1. That contract pricing has been obtained through interlocal cooperative partner HGAC for the purchase of handheld radios. Section 2. That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to participate in an interlocal cooperative pricing arrangement with the Houston-Galveston Area Council (HGAC) for the purchase of Motorola handheld radios in the amount of $38,777.25. COKER CITY ATTORNEY PEARLAND Page 1 of 2 To: Through: From: Date: Larry Steed, Gordon Island, Purchasing April 16, 1999 Subject: Bid Recommendation for Radios, Bid 99-055 Introduction: Contract pricing has have been received from inter-local cooperative partner Houston Galveston Area Council (HGAC) for Motorola mobile and handheld radios approved in the FY98/99 budget. Radio pricing is within approved budget balances. Background: Contract pricing from inter-local cooperative partner Houston Galveston Area Council (HGAC) was solicited for this purchase for two reasons, 1) competitive low pricing based on volume and 2) contract with Harris County for use of 800 trunked radio system which only allows use of Motorola radio equipment. Inter-local contract partners are utilized when it is economically beneficial to the City. HGAC has traditionally specialized in communications equipment and has obtained as favorable pricing because of the volume of radios included in their bid. The City of Pearland has a inter-local cooperative agreement to participate in the Houston Galveston Area Council (HGAC) cooperative purchasing program. This program meets all the requirements of the Local Government Code for competitive bidding. Recommendation: Staff recommends award of Motorola radios based on contract pricing from the Houston Galveston Area Council (HGAC) contract in the amount of $38,777.25.
