Dear Mayor Reid:
The Brazosport Chamber of Commerce and the Brazoria County
Partnersl;~ip are seeking your city's support for the Spaceport
Project. This is a project that will impact the entire county with
over 3,000 direct jobs and a capital investment now estimated at
nearly $350 million dollars. The Spaceport can add diversity to
our labor force that is badly needed. It will serve as a catalyst for
future Research and Development projects and the creation of
hundreds of new high paying, high technology jobs for our area.
We are asking you to endorse a resolution in support of the
Spaceport. A sample resolution is enclosed for your use. We
need to show Lockheed Martin and elected. officials at the state
and federal level that Brazoria County is serious about aerospace.
These resolutions will become a part of the final packet that will
go forward to Lockheed Martin later this spring. Should you or
your staff have any questions concerning this matter please feel
free to contact either the Brazosport Chamber of Commerce at
(409) 265-2505 or the Brazoria County Partnership at (409) 848-
0560.
Thank you for your support of this valuable project.
Sincerely,
Fred Welch
Executive Director
