MEMORANDUM
TO:
Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers
FROM:
Janet Berry
Director, Grants and Public Affairs ~/9~
DATE:
January 20, 1999
SUBJECT:. Resolution supporting Community Development Block Grant application
Recommendation: That Council authorize submission of a grant application to the
Harris County Community Development Agency for Community Development Block
Grant funding for a sewer project in the Fite-Figland area.
Source and Approximate Amount of Funding:
Harris County Community Development Agency
$300,000
Specific Explanatimu
The application will request funds to install new sewer lines that will tie approximately
42 homes in the Figland area neighborhood to City sewer services.
'Matching Funds:
The program does not require any specific matching threshold. The competitive nature of
the grant, however, suggests a considerable match. We intend to propose City matching
funds of approximately 15%, or $45,000, from the City's utility fund.
