Frost Constructors, Inc. submitted the lowest bid of $274,058 88, making the current projected total cost $310,477.88 including $36,419 for engineering. After reviewing the bids and conferring with Mr. Moore, S&B suggests that the Sodding, proposed in Bid Item No. 22, and two of the four water fountains proposed in Bid Item No. 26, be eliminated from the contract, This would reduce the construction contract amount by $20,752 to $289,725.88 leaving a budget surplus of $10,274.12. Further, and with concurrence from Mr Moore, SCR sugeests that approximately$5,000 of this surplus be allocated for Parks and Rea to provide the sodding which would leave a net budget surplus of a little onyx $5 000 The Contractor has indicated they would be amenable to these changes and, we have discussed this with the City Attorney, Mr. Dann Coker, and understand that under State law, the proposed bid item modifications can only be made after the contract is awarder] fui tlir full ai lount 'I'heretore S&B respectfully proposes the construction contract in the amount of $274,058.88 from frost Constructors, Inc_ he submitted to the Pearland City Council for approval, Monday, February 10, 2003. Subsequently, S&B will assist the City in final value engineering coordination with the Contractor_ We appreciate the opportunity to work with the City of Pearland and are looking forward to the successful completion of this project.
