MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON AUGUST 1, 1994, AT 7:30 P. M. IN THE
COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CITY HALL, 3519 LIBERTY DRIVE, PEARLAND, TEXAS
The meeting was called to order at 8:15 P. M. with the following
present:

Burdine, City Engineer John Hargrove, and Lieutenant Chris Doyle.
PURPOSE OF THE MEETING
SUBMISSION OF PROPOSED 1994-95 BUDGET AND SETTING OF PUBLIC HEARING
It was moved by Councilmember Tetens, seconded by Councilmember
Weber, that Council set the public hearing for August 8, 1994, on
the proposed 94-95 budget.
Motion passed 5 to 0.
ACCEPTANCE OF CERTIFICATION OF ANTICIPATED COLLECTION RATE AND
CERTIFICATION OF EXCESS DEBT COLLECTIONS FOR 1993
Division Director Erwin explained the following items were
housekeeping items required by the State Property Tax Code. The
anticipated collection rate is 100% and the excess debt collection
rate is 0%, Mr. Erwin stated.
It was moved by Councilmember Weber, seconded by Councilmember
Richardson, that Council accept the certification of the
anticipated collection rate and certification of excess debt
collections for 1993.
Motion passed 5 to 0.
APPOINTMENT OF PEARLAND INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT TAX ASSESSOR TO
CALCULATE AND PUBLISH THE EFFECTIVE RATE AND ROLLBACK RATE FOR 1994
It was moved by Councilmember Weber, seconded by Councilmember
Richardson, that Jo Knight, Pearland Independent School District
Tax Assessor, be appointed to calculate and publish the effective
rate and rollback rate for 1994.
Motion passed 5 to 0.
PRESENTATION OF 1994 CERTIFIED APPRAISAL ROLL FOR CITY OF PEARLAND
AND ASSOCIATED NEW CONSTRUCTION VALUE
Mr. Erwin reported that the Chief Appraiser has certified the
City's net taxable value as $786,617,562. The new construction
value is $50,805,010, Mr. Erwin announced.
It was moved by Councilmember Weber, seconded by Councilmember
Tetens, that these figures be accepted into the records of the
City.
