Mayor Pro Tem John G. Kagley, Aldermen Victor A. Nolen, gteven A. Shukanes, Thomas P. Alexander, City Secretary W. A. McClellan, City Attorney Jack Harrison and City Engineer WilliamC. Walsh. Alderman Gene E. Sanders absent. r=V Guests: John Rainey, Frank Barringer ;and Orlen OtDay., Motion made by Nolen and seconded by Shukanes that the minutes for the regular meeting held on September 9, 1964, be approved as read. All Aldermen voted "aye" with no "noes". Motion carried. A motion was made by Shukanes and seconded by Nolen that the following invoices and salaries be paid. All Aldermen voted "aye" with no "noes". Alexander seconded the motion. All Aldermen voted 'taye" with no "noes". Motion carried. For the next order of business Mayor Pro Tem Kegley read the following telegrams: I MA "Hon E. T. Gibbons, Mayor Pearland, Texas Am notified by the Department of Health, Education and Welfares Public Health Service of a Water Pollution Control grant of 104,340 for a sewage treatment plant, outfall and interceptor sewer f or,Pe arland, Texas. Estimated cost of project is 347,800. Ralph W. Yarbrough" USS "Hon E. .T. Clark W. Thompson, MC" Motion made by Nolen and seconded by Alexander that Mayor Pro Tem Kegley acknowledge these telegrams. All Aldermen voted "aye" with no "noes". Motion carried. Motion made by Alexander that the office manager check with the Pearland State Bank about the possibilities of drawing interest on our bank accounts not otherwise designated as "Savings Accounts" Seconded by Nolen. All Aldermen voted 'aye" with no "noes". Motion carried. A motion was made.by Alexander and seconded by Nolen that the Council, send Alderman Steven A. Shukanes and City Attorney Jack Harrison to Austin on September 24, 1964, for the hearing of the Texas Water Pollution Control Board to consider the matter of amending certain sewage and municipal waste discharge permits in the Clear Lake watershed. All Aldermen voted "aye" with no "noes", Motion carried. Motion made by Shukanes and seconded by Alexander that a Resolution be adopted for making a federal grant under Public Law #660 for Sewer Treatment Plant and Lines for Site No.,2. All Aldermen voted "aye" with no "noes". Motion carried. (Increase dimensions of the footings for pressure tank to 6 ft. x 10 ft. x_ 1 ft. each and increase the dimensions of the piers for pressure tank to 8 ft. width x 5 ft. 6 in. height.) Orlen O'Day representing the Commissioners for Drainage District No. 4 requested a joint meeting with the City Council at an early date. Mayor Pro Tem Kegley stated a special meeting would be held Monday Night September 21, 1964, at 7:30 P. M. for a joint meeting with the Commissioners of zDrainage District No. 4 and to canvass the votes for the special election to elect a Mayor. Meeting adjourned at 9:30 P. M. Guest: Frank Barringer Mayor Pro Tem Kegley explained that the purpose of the meeting was to canvass the votes of the special election held on September 190 1964, to elect a mayor, and other business that may properly come before the Council for consideration. Following due procedure and discussion of the election returns which indicated the following votes cast: Joe Dan Calvin received 132 votes; John G. Kegley received.212 votes; Jack Taylor received 64 votes; Gene Sanders received 119 votes; - Sanders made a motion that since John G. Kegley received.a..'majority of votes that he be duly declared the new mayor of the. -City of Pearland. Motion seconded by Nolen. All Aldermen voted "ayes'--_ with no "noes". Motion carried. - Frank Barringer, Trustee of the Willowcrest Subdivision submitted the following papers for consideration for Council to--aocep_t--`this Addition to the City of Pearland. A letter from Jenkints Sign Company that signs had been ordered for Willowcrest Subdivision. A letter from Thos. D. Heaney, Consulting Engineer, that pressure tests on the piping in Willowcrest Subdivision had me"t specifications as required. A letter from J. R. White, Inc., reporting on tests on concrete cores taken from the paving in Willowcrest Subdivision. A letter from E. L. Bundy, City of Pearland Water and Sewer Superintendent, that repairs needed, as previously outlined by him, have been made. An as -built map for the piping of Willowcrest Subdivision by Thos. D. Heaney, Consulting Engineer. A properly executed instrument deeding the piping in Willow - crest Subdivision to the City of Pearland. Mayor Pro Tem Kegley stated to Council and Mr. Barringer that we would expedite as soon as possible our Engineer checking out the
