"July 29, 1964
Mr. John Kegley, Mayor Pro Tempore
Members of the City Gouncil
City of Pearland
Pearland, Texas
Gentlemen:
I wish to submit my resignation as Mayor of the City of
Pearland to the members of the City Council in order that you
might take appropriate action to fill the vacancy that will be
created by my resignation.
I•have worked with most of you almost since the inception of
Pearland as a City and feel that with our joint efforts much
has been accomplished in helping Pearland to grow and create
a well organized municipal corporation.
Because of other interests that I have which `will conflict
with my holding a public office, I feel that I must tender my
resignation effective at once.
I wish to assure you, as well as my successor in office, that
I will continue to do everything possible in working out City
problems and hope that you will not hesitate to call upon me at
anytime I can be of service.
I feel that even my first term in office, as well as my
successive elections, has been in large measure, dependent on
you as Members of the Council.
It is with deep regret that'I feel it would be to my
best interest that I tender my resignation to you as Mayor
because of other interests. It has been a pleasure to work
with each of you and the past Council members. I have enjoyed
trying to serve all the people of Pearland. Pearland has a
great future.
Respectfully submitted,
_ - (Signed) E. T. Gibbons"
A motion was made by Nolen and seconded by Alexander that Chief.
of 'Police Casey be permitted to reside outside of the citIy
limits of Pearland but inside the band of protection. All
Aldermen voted "aye" with no "noes." `
