1964-06-25 CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTESThe regular meeting of the City of Pearland City Council was held on Thursday Night June 25, 1964, at the City_Hall with the following City Officials and guests present. Mayor E. -T. Gibbons, Aldermen Gene E. Sanders, Victor A. Nolen, Steven A. Shukanes, Jr., Thomas P. A1exander`arid W. A. McClellan, City Secretary. Councilman John G. Kegley absent. Guests: -Glen Spencer, Frank Barringer, J. W. Moore,; Frank A. Putnam, John Rainey and Ed"Rivers. • F Motion made by Shukanes and seconded by Alexander that minutes be approved with changes. All Aldermen voted "aye" no "noes." '. Motion carried. ° Motion made by Shukanes and 'seconded by Nolen that necessary stamps be purchased to mail brochures. All Aldermen voted "aye" no "noes." COMMITTEE REPORTS: Motion made by Sanders and seconded by Nolen that Street and Bridge Committee be authorized to hire G. H. Haskins and his equipment at the rate of $9.00 per hour or approximately $200.00 for grading the shell streets in the City. All Aldermen voted "aye" no "noes." Motion carried.. Motion made by Shukanes and seconded by Nolen that each Equali- zation Board member be paid the sum of $10.00 per sessiop. All Aldermen voted "aye" no "noes." Motion carried.. Mayor Gibbons appointed the following to serve with him as the Finance Cbmmittee: Shukanes, Alexandero McClellan and Marquess. Mayor Gibbons requested Nolen to, contact the Highway Department about the dangerous crossing at Brookside and Highway 35. Mayor Gibbons presented a petition from the residents 'f Turner Addition regarding the hazards of an open drainage ditch North of Turner Addition. Motion made by Nolen and seconded by Sanders that this problem be referred to the Drainage Committee of this Council, to be put on.'Gheir Agenda for a future meeting with the Drainage District for long-range drainage planning.
