1964-05-18 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES—A special meeting of the Pearlan4 City Council was held on May 18, 1964, in the City Hall located at 14429 Texas Avenue, with the following City Officials and Guests present. Mayor E. T. Gibbons, Councilmen Victor A. Nolen, Steven A. Shukanes, Jr., John G. Kegley, Thomas P. Alexander and Gene E. Sanders, �. Guests: David L. Smith, Jr., William C. Walsh and Glenn Spencer. Mayor Gibbons explained that the purpose of the meeting -was to discuss the final plans for the sewage plant and trunk line piping for Zone 1 on the east side of the City of Peairland. Mr. Walsh and Mr. Spencer elaborated on the plans and discussed activity in obtaining the Federal Grant. All of the papers have been submitted for the approval of Mr. Walton, Associate Director of the Water Pollution Control Board. It was agreed that Mr. Walsh should meet with Mr. Eddleman on May 19, 19640 to work out final arrangements. The City will then be in a position to sell time warrents and take bids for the water plant and lines immediately and the sewage plant as soon as the Federal Grant is approved. Mayor Gibbons next discussed the possibility of purchasing the lots adjacent to the City Hall for $1800.00. (Four Lots - 110 12, 13,,and 14, and the 501 strip adjacent to the railroad being- 1, long. A motion was made by Alexander and seconded by Kegley that these lots be purchased subject to arrangements of satisfactory financing. All members voted -"aye no "noes." Motion carried. A motion was made by Kegiey:and,seconded-bar Shukanes that the street paving and drainage plan of Sherwood Subdivision be approved by the City Council. All members voted "aye" no "noes."
