All members voted "aye" no' e'noes. ' Motion carried. t ^, 4; Motion Aade by Nolen and seconded.by Alexander that the City furnish,the sum# of $120.00 to M. E. Ellis, Fire Marshall, as ' expense money and to allow Escue Harris, Assistant -Fire Chief, time off with pay so they may attend the 35th Annual Firemen"s School at A. & M..College from.July� 19th through.July_24th inclusive. Voting for Kegley, Nolen and Shukanes, Abstaining' Alexander and Sanders. Motion carried. City Engineer instructed to inspect stores sewer installation in the .Sherwood Subdivision. Mr. C. Cunningham was recognized next and after due discussion it was decided the matter should be,tabied for some future meeting. The next item for discussion concerned the final approval and payment to the Bay Concrete Products Company on their contract for a service line to McGlathery & Yost, and the Pearjand Investment Company. No formal action being taken. Motion made by Nolen and seconded by Shukanes that the City proceed at once to pay for the Well site propert onHighway 518. That money for this site in the amount of ;7,075.00 be loaned from the City,of Pearland, Water and Sewer Operating Account, to the City of Pearland Construction Fund. Office to have check ready on Monday,May 11, 1964. The construction fund check to'be made payable to Mr. George Bregman. All members voted "aye's no "noes." Motion carried. 26 For the next order of business Mayor Gibbons requested the Councilmen to be thinking -about several prospective appointees to serve -on the Equalization Board. Mr. Frank Barringer was recognized next and gave a brief talk on the progress being made eoncering getting water and sewer service lines -to his. addition, along with storm sewer lines that involved the Santa Fe Railroad, -Highway Department and Drainage District. Motion made by Nolen and seconded by ShukaT'4194%ent t4the sum of $460.00 be allowed toward the pruchase of across the Massey land for the Willow Crest Subdivision. All members votedr"aye" no "noes." Motion carried. - Motion made by Kegley and seconded by Nolen that tb.e Council pass the following resolution. RESOLUTION - WHEREAS, itis contemplated that the City of Pearland, Texas will construct certain sewage transmission and treatment facilities with -an estimated total cost of $360,000.00; and WHEREAS, it is found that the City of Pearland is unable to provide the total cost of such improvements; and AREAS, it is deemed necessary and proper to apply for Federal grant under the Federal Water Pollution Control Act. Public Law 660, as amended, in order to have sufficient funds to complete these much needed improvements; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, that E. T. Gibbons, Mayor of the City of Pearland,'Texas, be and is hereby authorized and directed to make application, in the name of the City of Pearland, Texas, for a Federal grant under Public Law 660, as amended; to be applied to the cost of the eonstruetion'of said sewage facilities. The City of Pearland her6by agrees that if a Federal grant for the project is made pursuant to the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, the City will pay the remaining costs of the approved project.
