1964-04-23 CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES20 —The regular meeting for the City, of Pearland City` Council was held on Thursday Night, April , 1964, at ;the .City Mall, 14429 Texas -Avenue, with the following 'C'ity Officials and Guests present. Mayor E. T. Gibbons, Councilmen John G Kegleys Steven A. Shukanes, Jr., Thomas P. Alexander, Gene E..Sanders and Victor A. Nolen. • Guests: William C."Walsh, City Engineer, Jack Harrison, City Attorney, W. A. McClellari, Office Manager, Vernon Halik, Paul F. Ferguson, James E.' Raines, John Rainey.,4tmes H. Welch, James C. Young, David L. Smith, Jr., Frank Barringer and Joe A. Martin. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. with the reading and approval of minutes for regular meeting held`, on _April. 16, 1964,, and a special meeting held on April 20, 1964. Motion made by Kegley and seconded by Sanders that the following -outstanding invoices for the -City of Pearland Water & Sewer . . ,:Deka-rtment and the City of Pearland operating accounts be app- rovad`-and paid. Raines for his report on Sleepy Hollow Subdivision@, it was in letter form and was referred to the Subdivision Committee for study and recommendations. Mr. James'H. Welch of the Phillips Pipe Line Company, requested information concering subdivisions that would affect any of their lines, also he wanted permission to install an additional line in their present easement. Mayor Gibbons requested Mr. Harrison and Mr. Walsh to arrange a meeting with Mr. Welch to recommend whatever agreements they deemed necessary. Mr. Vernon A. Halik stated that the Halik Estate and Bob Ellis and Bob Ellis would like for the City.Engineer and City Attorney to prepare needed instruments for them to give certain road easements to the City. By consensus of opinion this offer was accepted by City Council. 2 L' Bids for 751 of 6" gasket type sewer pipe were opened. The Pearland Lumber Cofnpany bid 49X per lineal foot. The Pearland Hardware Company bid 54 per lineal foot. Motion made'by Keglby sad seconded by Shukanes that Pearland Lumber Company be awarded the order for this pipe. All,members voted aye, no.noes. Motion carried. ° Motion made by Kegley and seconded by Sanders'that Police Depart- ment employees be ::'included is the Workmen's Compensation Ins- urance policy taken out by the former Brazoria County Water Control &'Improvement District No. 3`, also employees of the former Water District be inclused along with the Police_Depart- . merit employees for Hospitalization Insurance,as follows: Hospital insurance to be on a voluntary basis with the City paying one-half of the cost for all City employees; Employees dependents°will be added at full cost to thb efsployee; Payments to be made on a payroll deduction plan. All members voted aye, no noes. Motion carried. ° otion made by Nolen and seconded by Alexander that Section 11 of Ordinance No. 84 be amended to read 300 feet instead�_oi"2'00 feet. Nolen, Alexander, Shukahes and Kegley votedaye;: Sande"__ voted no. _ Motion carried.. Mayor Gibbons recommended confirmation -mf. -an agreement ;*ith the owners of Longwood Subdivision to exchange a trunk. route for a sewer plant site. A motion to do so made bqlegley' and seconded by Nolen. All members voted aye, no noes. Motion carried. Motion made by Sanders and seconded by Alexander that City pay 50% of the funds available to Bay Concrete Products Company for the Pearland Investment Company and McGlathery and Yost project.
