1964-04-02 CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTESIv -7 The regular meeting for the City of Pearland City Council was held on Thursday Night, April 2, 1964, at the City Hall, 14429 Texas Avenue, with the following members and guests --present. Mayor,E. T. Gibbons, Councilmen John Kegley., Thomas P. Alexander, Victor A.'Nolen, favid L. Smith, Jr., and Gene E. Sanders. Guests: William C. Walsh, J. H. Stone, J.'E. Raines, P. L. Marquess, James B. Harvell, M. N. McGlathery, Frank Barringer, Orlen O'Day and W. A. McClellan. ° e The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. by Mayor `Gibbons, with the reading and approval of minutes from the previrous meeting. ° Motion made by Nolen and seconded by Sanders that the following outstanding invoices for'the water and sewer department and the City of Pearland - operating accounts be approved°and paid. All members voted aye, no noes. ` Motion carried. E. Raines for his report on rechecking the preliminary plat for "Sherwood Addition'; This matter was postponed until next regular meeting. Mr. P. L. Marquess was recognized next and gave a brief summary of the assessed valuation for ad valorem taxes as shown on his preliminary tax roll, which amounted to $8,970,901.00. He also gave a report on the type and kind of bookkeeping machines need- ed in the office. Motion made by Kegley and seconded by Smith that Councilman Victor A. Nolen be appointed as Interim Tax Assessor -Collector until such time as an ordinance appointing a regular Tax - Assessor -Collector could be passed. All members voted aye, no noes. Motion carried. Motion made by Kegley and seconded by Nolen that McClellan go to Wharton,, at City expense, for the purpose of observing and checking out the kind of bookkeeping machines and forms that could be best suited for our office. All members voted aye, no noes. Motion carried.
