MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, CITY

COUNCIL HELD ON OCTOBER 3, 1967, AT 7:30 P. M. IN THE CITY HALL
Aspecial meeting of the Pearland City Council was call-edto"order by
Mayor Pro Tem Gene E. Sanders with the following present:

Mayor Pro Tem Sanders stated that the purpose of the meeting was to
discuss the estimated preliminary budget for the fiscal year 1967-
1968. Also, that this meeting would not adjourn but would recess
until 7:30 P. M. October 4, 1967, and other dates if necessary in
order to complete this work.
City Secretary instructed to write a letter to Fire Chief G. H.
Haskins advising him that the Budget and Finance Committee had recom-
mended for the Fire°Department the sum( equal to 2% of the collect-
able taxes for the budget year not to exceed $3,000.00 plus, the

City Secretary instructed to contact City Attorney, t ;Auditor /0"

and City Engineer and secure written information outlining the services
to be rendered under their monthly retainer fee.
City Secretary instructed to contact Mr. Green of the firm of Mormon,
Mok and Green, Inc. regarding the long range planning program.
A motion was made by Councilman Courtright, seconded by Councilman
Ellis that the meeting recess until 7:30 P. M: October 4, 1967.
WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen
present voting "aye" with no "noes."

Meeting called to order by Mayor Pro Tem Gene E. Sanders with the follow-
ing present:

City Secretary W. A. McClellan
Absent: Mayor Lloyd C. Hawkins, Councilmen Ellis & Watson.
A discussion was held regarding the proposed budget for the fiscal
year 1967-68.
A motion was made by Councilman Courtright, seconded by Councilman
Wasek that the meeting adjourn. WHEREUPON, the question was asked
and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voting "aye" with no
"noes."
Meeting adjourned at 10:30 P. M.

MINUTES OF A SPECIAL EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
A special emergency meeting of the City Council was called to order by
Mayor Pro Tem Sanders with the following present:

Visitors: Al Storrs of the Tri-Coutity News.
Mayor Pro Tem Sanders stated that the purpose of the meeting was to
authorize disbursement of three months salary for the widow of Henry
0. Wendell, Jr., Police Patrolman fatally injured while on duty on
October 6, 1967.
A motion was made by Councilman Courtright, seconded by Councilman
Ellis that a check for three months .pay for Police Officer Henry 0.
Wendell, Jr., be approved and signed this date, such check to be l
made payable to such officers widow, Mrs. Billie Joyce Wendell. �—
WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen
present voted "aye" with no "noes."
A motion was made by Councilman Wasek, seconded by Councilman Courtright
that the meeting adjourn. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the
