1967-08-31 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTESMINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF TEE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, CITY COUNCIL HELD ON AUGUST 31, 1967, AT 7:30 P- M. IN THE CITY HALL A special meeting of the Pearland City Council was called to order by Mayor Hawkins with the following present: Absent: Visitors: Mayor Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman Lloyd C. Hawkins Aubrey.-Ellis B. J. Courtright E. A. Wasek Dale Watson Gene Sanders Lee Plyler, Shelton T. Smith, Jr., Mrs. Lee Plyler, Mrs. Jake Jamison, David L. Smith, Jr., J. D. Young and R. L. Kruse. Mayor Hawkins stated that the purpose of the special meeting was to discuss Sherwood Section II plat and Other matters that might be brought before the_ Council. R. L. Kruse presented an amended plat for the trailer park on Austin Street with necessary changes made with the exception of power lines which must go in power easement. A motion was made by Councilman Courtright, seconded by Councilman Ellis that the City offer no objections to the proposed plat of the Austin Street trailer park as submitted by Mr. Kruse. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "aye" with no "noes." The next bus~!ness to come before the Council was David L. Smith, Jr. with the final plat of Sherwood Section II. A motion was made by Councilman Courtright tha the city cut street to grade , regretfully that this is the only service that the City can offer at this time, provided drainage on Highway 518 is worked out and grading extended all the way to the highway. Motion died for lack of a second. The developer, David L. Smith, Jr., stated that he failed to see why plat was not approved because he had complied with the City Ordinance. approved A motion was made by Councilman Watson that the plat on Sherwood II be' in that the approved plat meets all'requirements of the c~ty's existing subdivision ordinance. Motion seconded Councilman Courtright. WHEREUPON, the question was as. ked and the motion carried, with Councilmen Courtright and Watson voting "aye" and Councilmen Wasek and Ellis voting "no." Mayor Hawkins voted "aye" to break the tie~ because plat meets ordinance. A motion was made by Councilman Watson, seconded by Councilman Courtright that City Secretary W. A. McClellan contact Sinclair for the possibility of obtaining drill site for road easement on west _end between Sherwood II and Westminister Subdivision. WHEREUPON, the question was asked andsthe motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "a e" .y with no "noes."
