1967-07-20 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTESMINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS CITY COUNCIL HELD ON JULY 20, 1967, AT 7:30 P. M. .IN THE CITY HALL A special meeting of the Pearland City Council was called to order by Mayor ---Hawkins with the following present: May -or Councilman Councilman Gou:nc ilman Councilman City Secretary City Engineer Vistors: James Matlock, Lloyd C. Hawkins Gene E. Sanders E. A. Wasek B. J. Courtright Dale Watson W. A. McClellan William C. Walsh Jim Harper and T. P. Alexander. Mayor Hawkins stated that the purpose of the special meeting was to discuss various ordinancesand any other business that might be brought before the Council. A prayer was given by James Matlock, Chaplain of the City of Pearland. The first order of business was a motion by Councilman Courtright, seconded by Counc -man Wasik that Construction Check No. 166, payable to George C. Cox Company -in the amount of15,108.75 and, Construction Check No. 167, payable to W11liam C. Walsh and the Angleton Bank of Commerce in the amount of $1,145.57 be signed and released. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried with Councilmen Courtright, Sanders and Wasek voting "aye" and Councilman Watson voting "no." A motion was made by Councilman Courtright, seconded by Councilman 'Watson that the City accept the low bid of the Rockwell Manufacturing Company for 100 or more cold water meter at $34.30 each to be delivered as needed over a period of one year. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "aye" with no "noes." A motion was made by Councilman Courtright, seconded by Councilman Sanders that the City of Pearland subscribe to,.: the Progress newspaper published here in Pearland. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "aye" with no "noes." A motion was made by Councilman Sanders, seconded by Councilman Watson that the City Secretary write a letter to the Allen Fields Enterprises advising them as follows: " In honor of a commitment of the City of Pearland as referred to in -Deed 7242 dated May 15, 1964 and recorded in Volume 880, Page 208 of the records of Brazoria Count , Texas, the City offers the Allen Field Enterprises the lump sum of 3,000.00 in lieu of the construction of the road as stated in the above mentioned deed. This payment to be made after the Allen -Field Enterprises have constructibd a road in accordance with the requirements of the City of Pearland's Subdivision Ordinance in the location as stated in the deed. Also, after the Subidivision plat has been approved as required by the Subdivision Ordinance and finally recorded, and upon receipt of a certificate of ownership and affidavit that all labor and materials have been paid for. If this is agreeable the City will enter into a contract." WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "aye" with no "noes." City Secretary instructed to set up a meeting with the Mayorts Advisory Committee for Wednesday Night July 26, 1967. Mr. Tom Alexander appeared before the Council and suggested that the City Council start thinking about opening up and improving the dedicated streets in the old townsite of Pearland so that e ons oWni?g th s could �� be ' n to do something ith them.Y�T.�e A motion was made by Councilman Courtright, seconded by Councilman Wasek that the meeting adjourn.
