1967-07-06 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES118.6 MINUTES.OF.A.SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, CITY ....... .... SPECIAL A. special meeting of the Pearland City Council was called to order by Mayor Hawkins with the following present: Mayor Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman City Secretary Absent: Councilman Lloyd C. Hawkins E. A. Wasek Gene E. Sanders B; J: Courtright Aubrey G. Ellis W. A. McClellan Dale Watson Visitors: Rev. D. 0. Foster, John W. Mikeska, James A. Matlock, A. W Storrs,, Leonard W. Shoemaker, P. E., Sam Vester, Harold Sanders, Charles -E: viand, Mrs. Jake Jamison, Frances Jamison and Raymond J. Barringer. Meeting opened with a prayer by Reverend D. 0. Foster, minister of the First Baptist Church of Pearland. Mayor Hawkins stated that the purpose of the meeting was to secure authorization from the City Council for the Mayor to execute Federal Grant application and for any other business that this Council deems necessary. A motion was made by Councilman Sanders, seconded by Councilman Ellis that the Mayor be authorized to execute a grant application under Public Law 660 for the extension of sewage trunk mains on Walnut Street and through the Shadycrest area, when submitted by the City Engineer, for those project previously covered in the bond issue. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "aye" with no "noes." A motion was made by Councilman Ellis, seconded by Councilman Sanders that the City pay the difference between a 2" water line and a 6" water line on Stratford Street to the east property line,in Sherwood Subdivision - Section II; also, the difference between a 21' water line and a 6" water line on Westminister Drive from the second fire plug south to where the water line intersects in Block 3, Sherwood Subdivision Section II, a combined distance of approximately 630 feet, provided this area is nottdisannexed from the City. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, Councilmen Sanders, Ellis and Court - right voting "aye" with Councilman Wasek voting "no." A motion was made by Councilman Sanders, seconded by.Councilman Courtright that the construction plans for Sherwood Subdivision Section II covering the water lines, sewer lines and street installations be approved as presented, subject to the actions authorized by the Council in the above motion and subject to the removal of the statement "Typical paving section Westminister Drive " shown on the master plan of paving. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion harried, Councilmen Courtright, Ellis and Sanders voting "aye" with Councilman Wasek voting "no." At the request of Councilman Sanders with reference to Sherwood Subdivision, Section II, there has been no agreement between the ..., Subdivider and this Council concerning the building and topping of Westminister Drive adjacent thereto. This is reference to motion { on Page 168, Volume 3, second paragraph. A motion was made by Councilman Wasek, seconded by Councilman Ellis that the motion made and passed on June 13, 1967, and recorded on Page 179, Volume 3 of the official minutes of the City of Pearland regarding liability insurance for the AA Dusting Company be rescinded and that the AA Dusting Company file a certificate of insurance in the amount of 100/300 for the remainder of the spraying season. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, Councilmen Wasek and Sanders voting "aye" Councilman Ellis voting "no," and Councilman Courtright abstaining. A motion was made by Councilman Sanders, seconded by Councilman Wasek that the meeting adjourn. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "aye" with no "noes." Meeting adjourned at 9:50 F. M.
