1967-03-09 CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES150 MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, CITY COUNCIL HELD ON MARCH 9, 1967, AT 7:30 P. M. IN THE CITY HALL, PEARLAND, TEX. A regular meeting of the Pearland City Council was called to order by Mayor Hawkins with the following present: Mayor L. C. Hawkins Councilman, Victor A. Nolen Councilman Joe Dan Calvin Councilman E. A. Wasek { Councilman Aubrey Ellis City Attorney C. J. Galli, Jr. City Engineer Jim Bell - Walsh & McLaren Absent: Councilman Basil L. Cogbill Visitors: Louis Wortham, Betty Storrs, D. R. Keller, Marie Moore, C. H. Matchett, Toby S. Lytle, Willard Thompson, Dorothy Thompson, James M. Skipper, Alma Barnes Snyder, Mrs. Lee Plyler, Mrs. Jake Jamison, Mr. Lee Plyler, B. M. Jamison, Bob L. Plyler, Mrs. L. E. Dittmann, M. J. "Tiny" Barrows, George V. Hastings, Sidney I. Barfield, Billy G Roby, Al Storrs and D. D. Lewis. The first order of business was a motion by Councilman Calvin, seconded by Councilman Wasek that the minutes of the regular meeting held on February 23, 1967, be approved. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "aye" with no "noes." A motion was made by Councilman Calvin; seconded by Councilman Nolen that the minutes of the special meeting held on March 4, 1967, be approved. the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen vo e "aye" with no "noes. A motion was made by Councilman Wasek, seconded by Councilman Calvin that the minutes of a special meeting held on March 6, 1967, be approved WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, Councilmen Wasek, Calvin and Ellis voting "aye" with no "noes." Councilman Nolen abstained. - City Secretary McClellan conducted the drawing for candidates places on the ballot of the City election to be held April 4, 1967. Nolen Place 8 Hy Gomez Place 9 Charles Dale Watson A motion was made by Councilman Calvin, seconded by Councilman Ellis that the south road to the rice drier be changed from Rice Road to Rice Drier Road. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "aye" with .no "noes." A motion was made by Councilman Nolen; seconded by Councilman Ellis that the road previously known as McGlathery Lane and/or Mac Road be changed to Patricia Lane. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "aye" with no "noes. it A motion was made by Councilman Calvin, seconded by Councilman Ellis that the proposition of Brown and Root be accepted for repairing the streets in Longwood Subdivision. This is with the understanding that a rotary mixer will be used to mix the old base with the new base and that the shell streets be cored by the Contractor in the presence of Jim Bell, representing Walsh & McLaren. Also, that Mr. Bell, Mr. Waling of the Brazoria County Realty Company and Mr. Duffy of Brown and Root, Inc. be present before the treatment is applied.
