1967-01-05 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTESO MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, CITY COUNCIL HELD ON JANUARY 5, 1967, AT 7:30 P. M. IN THE CITY HALL, PEARLAND, TEXAS A special meeting of the Pearland City Council was called to order by Mayor Hawkins with the following present: Mayor Lloyd C. Hawkins Councilman Victor A. Nolen Councilman Aubrey Elis Councilman Joe Dan Calvin III Councilman Basil L. Cogbill City Engineer Jim Bell - Walsh & McLaren City Secretary W. A. McClellan Absent: Councilman E. A. Wasek Visitors: D. R. Keller, Alma Barnes Snyder, -Mrs. Jake Jamison, Mrs. Lee Plyler, Lee Plyler, Jake Jamison, B. M. Jamison, Frances Jamison and C. P. Herrington. Mayor Hawkins stated that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss street lighting in subdivisions and any other business that might properly be brought before the Council. Following due discussion regarding street lights in Sherwood Subdivision the following costs were furnished Councilman Cogbill. 5 lights. installed in SherwoodSubdivision P on ordamental -poles. �kphyy � lY°-J �`► 5 lights for one/Wear at each - Total $150.00. 1v Extra year pole rental for ornamental poles $12.00 each - Total $60.00. Total to be deposited with the City in advance - $210.00. Councilman Calvin stated that he and Public Work's Director Harris had secured prices for a used hydraulic cylinder and accessories - price $130.00. This cylinder could be used to convert our flat bed truck into a flat bed dump truck. A motion was made by Councilman Nolen, seconded by Councilman Cogbill that Councilman Calvin be authorized to pursue the conversion of our flat bed truck to a flat bed dump truck with the purchase of materials as outlined above plus a small expedditure for power take -off and other miscellaneous expense necessary to the conversion. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "aye" with no "noes." A motion was made by Councilman Nolen, seconded by Councilman Calvin that Dan Triplett be hired for the Water and,Sewer Department on a ninety day trial basis at a starting salary of $400.00 per month. x Following due discussion-ofthe above motion, Councilman Nolen made a motion, soconded by Councilman Cafbillthat the above motion be tabled until the next regular Council meeting on January 12, 1967. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "aye" with no "noes." Engineer Jim Bell advised the Council that it would take 40 feet of 48" double line concrete pipe to place a culvert across the drainage ditch adjacent to Regency Park. This would be for a service road to the new sewer plant #2. City Secretary instructed to prepare a maintenance bond expiration date on all subdivisions and other contracts where such bonds are requ r,ed. A motion was made by Councilman Calvin, seconded by Councilman Nolen that the meeting adjourn.- WHEREUPON,, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "aye" with no "noes."
