1966-10-31 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTESMINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON OCTOBER 31, 1966, AT 7:30 P. M. IN THE CITY HALL
A special meeting of the Pearland City Council was called to order by
Mayor Hawkins with the following present:

Visitors: Bert Jamison and Frances Jamison.
Mayor Hawkins stated that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the
garbage situation with the Griffin Brothers and any other business that
might properly be brought before the Council.
A motion was made by Councilman Nolen, seconded by Councilman Calvin
that the Police Department send one man to the Police Short Course School
in Fort Worth on November 13, 14 and 15. WHEREUPON, the question was
asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "aye" with
no "noes."
A motion was made by Councilman Nolen, seconded by Councilman Cogbill
that the Tax Assessor be permitted to attend a Short Course sponsored by
the University of Texas in Austin on December 4, 5 and 6. WHEREUPON,
the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present
voted "aye" with no "noes."
A motion was made by Councilman Calvin, seconded'by Councilman Nolen that
the Secretary answer the letter received from the Pearland Sportsmans
Club and advise them that the Council felt that they had already been
given a full hearing at the meeting held on October 13, 1966. Also,
the letter should explain the status of our plans for that area and our
regrets for the necessity of this action. WHEREUPON, the question was
asked and the motion carried with Councilmen Nolen, Ellis and
voting "aye" with no "noes." Councilman Cogbill abstained.
A motion was made by Councilman Calvin, seconded by Councilman Nolen
that the sign committee be authorized to designate locations for the
25 MPH speed zone signs in Subdivisions previously approved. WHEREUPON,
the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present
voted "aye" with no "noes."
A motion was made by Councilman Calvin, seconded by Councilman Nolen
that the meeting adjourn. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the
motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "aye" with no "noes."
Meeting adjourned at 9:30 P. M.
