1966-10-17 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES1.0 8 MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS CITY COUNCIL, HELD ON OCTOBER 17o1966., AT 7:40 P. M. IN THE CITY HALL A special meeting of the Pearland City Council was'called to order by Mayor Hawkins with the following present: Mayor Lloyd C. Hawkins Councilman Basil L. Cogbill --� Councilman Aubrey G. Ellis ; Councilman Joe Dan Calvin Absent: Councilman Victor A. Nolen & E. A. Wasek Visitors: J. E. Little and Ed Spradley Mayor Hawkins stated that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss participation in the extension of Plum Street as`well as discuss the rifle range operated by the Sportsman's Club, and any other business that might be properly brought before the Council. After due discussion regarding Plum Street, it was agreed that Councilman Calvin and Councilman Cogbill would work up a program and submit it to the City Attorney and City Engineer. It was further agreed that the City would consider extending Plum Street with shell if property owner would buy half of the shell. Minutes of October 10, 1966, to be checked to see if it was agreed to have the City Engineer survey street. A motion was made by Councilman Ellis, seconded by Councilman Calvin that --the Pearland Sportsmanrs Club be put on notice immediately by registered mail that their permit has been revoked by the City -of Pearland. This action due to long range plans and growth picture In the Pear d area as well as the fact that itis in the best interest: -of t�e citizens of Pearland. WHEREUPON, the question was --asked atyd -the motion carried, with Councilmen Ellis and.. Calvin, voting "aye" ^and'Councilman Cogbill voting "no." Councilman Cogbill stated for the record that he felt the problem had not been properly investigated since the petition had only been on record for one week. Mayor Hawkins stated for the record that he was in agreement with the majority vote in this action. A motion was made by Councilman Calvin, seconded by Councilman Cogbill that the meeting adjourn. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "aye" with no "noes." Meeting adjourned at 10:00 P. M.
