1966-08-25 CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES9U MINUTES OF A REGULAR, MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON AUGUST 25, 1966, AT 7:30 P. M. A regular meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Pro Tem Victor A. Nolen in the City Hall with the following present.- Mayor resent: Mayor Pro Tempore Victor A. Nolen Councilman, E. A. Wasek Councilman Aubrey Ellis Councilman Basil L. Cogbill City Attorney Jack Harrison City Engineer Jim Bell - Walsh & McLaren Absent: Mayor Lloyd C. Hawkins Councilman Joe Dan Calvin City Secretary W. A, McClellan Visitors: Bill G. Roby, Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Jamison, Mr. & Mrs. Donald J. Vitah, Rev. Carrel Foster - First Baptist -Church, James Matlock, Marie Moore - The Progress, R. E. Williams, J. C. Williams, Mr. & Mrs. Lee Plyler, D. R. Keller, Frank Easley,.J. E. Little, N. J. Deisch and Robert H. Green. A motion was made by Councilman Wasek, seconded by Councilman Cogbill that minutes of a special meeting held on August 9, 1966, minutes of a special meeting held on August 10, 1966 and the minutes of the regular meeting of August 119 1966, with corrections,be approved. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "aye" with no "noes." A motion was made by Councilman Cobill, seconded by Councilman Wasek that the check list dated August 29, 1966, be approved_ with the exception of Check No. 124 - Walsh & McLaren. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "aye" with no "noes." COMMITTEE REPORTS: Garbage Committee: Matter of joint participation in cost of operating garbage uump owned by Pearland discussed by Councilman Cogbill. A report will be made by Councilman Cogbill ata later date on the amount of participation by Manvel and Brookside. Engineer's Report: Postponed until special meeting of August 260 1966. Attorney's Report. Taxicab Ordinance, Amendment to Building Code and Courter for Police Reserves all tabled for further study and recommendations. City Planning Commission: Mr. Green outlined the general program which had een submitted o the State Health Department for their review and possible government grant, however,.the funds for 1966 have been depleted. Possible grant to be okayed in October or November. A motion was made by Councilman Cogbill, seconded'by Councilman Wasek that the meeting adjourn. WHEREUPON, the question was::asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "aye" with no "noes." Meeting adjourned at 8.32 P. M.
