1966-08-02 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES83 MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON TUESDAY AUGUST 2, 1966, AT 7:30 P. M. A special meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Hawkins in the City Hall with the following present: r.—. Mayor Lloyd C. Hawkins Councilman Aubrey Ellis Councilman E. A. Wasek Councilman Basil L. Cogbill Councilman J. D. Calvin City Secretary W. A. McClellan City Electrical Inspector Clyde Lohr, Sr. Absent: Councilman- Victor A. Nolen Visitors: J. E. Coppinger, D. H. Stripling, D. W. Corbett, Steve Veselka and L. E. Dittmann. Mayor Hawkins stated that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss some problems of the Electrical Board and determine how to invest the $500,000.00 bond fund until same is needed to pay construction costs. Following due discussion a motion was made by Councilman Calvin, seconded by Councilman Wasek that the Electrical Board be instructed to make a study of the Electrical .Ordinance and then present written recommendations to the City Council for proper action. Secretary to assist in securing data from several agencies. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "aye" with no "noes." A motion was made by Councilman Wasek, seconded by Councilman Calvin that the Secretary call the following banks and request their interest rates for investing $400,000.00 bond funds for six months and for $100,000.00 bond funds for three months. The Alvin State Bank - Alvin, Texas The First National Bank - Alvin, Texas Houston Bank and Trust Company - Houston, Texas Harrisburg National Bank - Houston, Texas Pearland State Bank - Pearland, Texas WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Council- men present voted "aye" with no "noes." Mayor Hawkins called for a special meeting Wednesday Night August 3, 1966. A motion was made by Councilman Ellis, seconded by Councilman Cogbill that the meeting adjourn. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "aye" with no "noes." Meeting adjourned at 9:30 P. M.
