1966-07-21 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES79 MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON JULY 21, 1966 AT 7:00 P. M. A special meeting of the City Council was called to order in the City Hall by Mayor Pro Tem Victor A. Nolen with the following present: Absent: Mayor Pro -Tem Councilman Councilman Councilman Fiscal Agent City Secretary Mayor Victor A. Nolen Basil L. Cogbill Joe Dan Calvin Aubrey G. Ellis D. N. Eddleman W. A. McClellan Lr loyd Hawkins Mayor Pro Tem Nolen stated that the purpose of the meeting was to expedite the delivery of $605,000.00 in Water -and Sewer Revenue Bonds which were sold and to discuss an air conditioner for the Police car. Following due discussion Mayor Pro Tem Nolen introduced a resolution which reads as follows: RESOLUTION PERTAINING TO PRESENT POPULATION OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND. WHEREAS, the City of Pearland, Texas, has made certain investigations and surveys pertaining to the present population of said City; and WHEREAS, there are now more than one thousand three hundred (1,300) residences in said City; and WHEREAS, there are now more than one thousand three hundred (1,300) electric meter connections in said City; Therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: SECTION 1: RECITATIONS IN PREAMBLE: That the matters and facts recited in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct. SECTION 2: AFFIRMATIVE FINDING AS TO POPULATION: That it is hereby affirmatively found and declared that the City of Pearland, Texas, now has more than five thousand (5,000) inhabitants. A motion was made by Councilman Ellis, seconded by Councilman Wasek that the resolution be adopted. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted -"aye" with no "noes." A discussion was held regarding placing an air conditioner, which has been donated by Niday Funeral Home, in the new Police.car. It was agreed that action on this matter be deferred until the next regular Council meeting. A motion was made by Councilman Wasek, seconded by Councilman Ellis that the meeting adjourn.
