1966-05-05 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTESMINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON MAY 5, 1966 IN THE CITY HALL A special meeting of the Pearland City Council was called to order by Mayor Hawkins at 7:30 P. M. with the following present: Mayor Lloyd C. Hawkins coune-ilman Basil L: Cogbill ouncilman Victor A. Nolen Councilman J. D. Calvin Councilman Aubrey G. Ellis ' Councilman E. A. Wasek City Secretary W. -A. -McClellan City Auditor & Appraiser P. L. Marquess Electrical Inspector Clyde Lohr, Sr-. Visitors: Dave W. Corbett, Mrs. Earle Maxwell, Frances Jamison, B. M. Jamison, J. E. Coppinger and D. H. Stripling. Mayor Hawkins stated -that the purpose of the meeting was to acquaint the new Council members with the Electrical Board and discuss any problems the Board might have. Also, an executive session would be held with P. L. Marquess to get acquainted with the new Council and to discuss any problems. The meeting with the Electrical,Board adjourned at 8:30 P. M. The executive session began at 8:40 P. M. A motion was made by Councilman Ellis, seconded by Councilman Calvin that P. L. Marquess be retained as auditor for another two-year term beginning June 1, 1966 at the same price of $1,500.00 per year. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Council- men voted "aye" with no "noes.* A motion was made by Councilman Calvin, seconded by Councilman Wasek that P. L,. Marquess and Company be employed to make an equalization, study on unimproved land for the 1966 tax roll. This service to cost $1,000.00 plus the usual charge of $6.50 for each new unit added for the tax year 1966. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "afire" with no "noes." A motion was made by Councilman Nolen, seconded by Councilman Calvin that the note to the Pearland State Bank on the new garbage site in the amount of $1,_3.,750.00 be renewed for one year from April 15, 1966. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen voted "aye" with no "noes." A,motion was made by Councilman Calvin, seconded by Councilman Cogbil that the meeting adjourn. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted"aye" with no "noes." The -meeting adjourned at 11:00 P. M.
