R2007-068 2007-05-07 RESOLUTION NO. R2007-68 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, STATING THE CITY'S INTENT TO PROHIBIT THE CONNECTION OF CERTAIN NEIGHBORHOOD STREET STUB-OUTS TO SPECIFIC COLLECTORS, THOROUGHFARES OR NEIGHBORHOOD STREETS. WHEREAS, a residential development ("Development"), located west of the Green Tee Subdivision, is currently under construction; and WHEREAS, the Development proposes the connection of a Collector street to the western terminus of Green Tee Drive stub-out in the Green Tee subdivision; and WHEREAS, the City's Comprehensive Thoroughfare Plan states that Collector streets should be designed to discourage through traffic from adjoining neighborhoods; and WHEREAS, the residents of the Green Tee subdivision have expressed concerns that the connection of the Development to the Green Tee Drive stub-out will create an increased traffic burden and safety hazards for their neighborhood; and WHEREAS, the residents of the Shadycrest subdivision have expressed concerns that their subdivision could be connected to the City's proposed extension of Pearland Parkway to allow through traffic; and WHEREAS, the connection of the Development to Green Tee Drive or Pearland Parkway to the Shadycrest subdivision would reverse the City's long standing policy of prohibiting, when appropriate, the connection of neighborhood street stub-outs to certain Collector and Thoroughfare streets. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: RESOLUTION NO. 2007-68 Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Pearland hereby clarifies its intent to prohibit the connection of any collector street stub-out located in the Green Tee subdivision to any other collector, thoroughfare or neighborhood streets. Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Pearland hereby clarifies its intent to prohibit the connection of Pearland Parkway to any street located in the Shadycrest subdivision.
