1966-04-08 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES42 MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND TEXAS HELD 09 APRIL 8,9 1966 AT THE CITY HALL The meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro Tempore Victor A. Sanders y y Jack Har ison Absent: Mayor John G. Kegley Councilman Steven A. Shukanes, Jr. Visitors: Bob Suter, Altha Plyler, Lee Plyler, Noel Deisch, Dan Keller, L. E. Dittmann, Max E. Duke, Jack B. Idoux, Frances Jamison, Bill Roby, John Moore - The Houston Post, Marie Moore - The Progress, Frank Lee, Martha Ellis, Aubrey Ellis, David Smith, Hamilton Haskins, Earl Raney and D. L. Raney. Mayor Pro Tem Nolen stated the purpose of the meeting was to review, the plans and specifications on the installation of the sewer line between Regency Park and Plum Street. The invitation was extended to the members of the Council to attend a=_SQa`Food Supper next Thursday night, April 14, but was advised that since" -this was a regular Council meeting night, the Councilmen would, in all probability be unable to attend. Jack Idou:x.stated that the Pearland State Bank intended to install a temperature and timing device which would encroach on State Highway 35__and`Asked that the Council grant its consent to such installation. Mr.-Id.oux stated that'if the City would grant its consent then the State Highway Department would probably offer no objections. Mayor Pro Tem Nolen suggested that Mr. Idoux obtain a letter from the State Highway Department approving such installation and furnish a sketch of the plans of such installation and that the Council would give the matter further consideration. A motion was made by Council- man Sanders, seconded by Councilman Calvin that the City approve such installation, subject to the approval of the State Highway Department. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Council- men voted "aye" with no "noes." The bidson the sewer line in Regency Park to Plum Street extending a distance of approximately 400 feet were opened, The first bid received was that of Dalsco, Inc., of Pearland, whose bid was $9.90 per lineal feet for the actual number of feQt installed with payment to be made upon completion of the project. } The second bid was from Kaysco, Inc., of Alvin, Texas for a total of $3,356.00 as a lump sum bid for the -installation of the pipe in accordance with the plans and specifications. No other bids were received. A motion was made by Councilman Calvin, seconded by Councilman Cogbill that the bids be tabled for tabulation and study and that a recommendation be made at the next meeting. WHEREUPON, the question] was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voting "aye" with no "noes." The next matter to come before the meeting was that of signing the checks-on.behalf of the City. A motion was made by Councilman Calvin, seconded by Councilman Cogbill that both Councilmen Calvin and Cogbill be authorized to execute checks on behalf of the City. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voting "aye" with no "noes." The next matter to come before the .meeting was that of canvassing the election returns of the April :5, 1966 City Election. A motion was made by Councilman Sanders, seconded by Councilman Cogbill that the election returns be canvassed and new officers sworn in on Monday, April 11, 1966 at 7:30 P. M. WHEREUPON., the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voting "aye" with no !noes." There being no further business the meeting was adjourned, subject to call.
