Sanders with the following present: Mayor Pro Tem Councilman Councilman City Attorney City Secretary City Health Officer Gene E. Sanders B. J. Courtright E. A. Was ek Cesare J. Galli, Jr. Dorothy L. Ellis Councilman Dale Watson Attending Biennial Institute for Mayors and Councilmen) INVOCATION: The invocation was given by Mayor Pro Tem Gene E. Sanders. APPROVAL OF MINUTES : f It was moved by Councilman Courtright, seconded by Councilman-Wase:k that the minutes of the regular meeting held on May 23, 1968 be approved. Motion passed 3 to 0. COMMITTEE REPORTS: Action on the Walnut Street Sewer -right-of-way, water customers outside of Regal Oaks and Plumbing Ordinance Amendment postponed until next regular meeting. Street and Bridge: It was moved by Councilman Courtright, seconded by Councilman Wase:k that the City advertise for bids on an estimated 75,000 gallons of asphalt, Texas Highway Department specification E.A. 11M, being a six months supply, to be delivered in 6,000 gallon lots f.o.b. tank, Pearland, Texas. Bids to be opened June 27, 1968. --, Motion passed 3 to 0. i Mayor Pro Tem Sanders read a letter from Mr. Carmicheal, District Engineer for the State Highway Department regarding the marking of Broadway for four lane traffic. CITIZENS: Frank Barringer - Corrigan Addition Section II. Final Plat. 3' It was moved by Councilman Courtright, seconded by. Councilman Sanders that the final plat of Corrigan Addition Section II be approved subject to the City -Engineer's comments in letter dated June 5, 1968. Motion passed 2 to -l. Councilman Wasek opposed. Mr. Barringer stated that he would like to meet with the Council later regarding one item on the list from Mr.:Walshts office, how- ever, he stated that all corrections had been -ma -de -on -the -linen plat. Larry Loessin - Turner Addition Section II. Preliminary Plat. It was moved by Councilman Courtright, seconded by Councilman Wasek that the preliminary plat of Turner Addition Section II be acknowledged and referred to -the Subdivision Committee for study. Motion passed 3 to 0. HEALTH OFFICER: Dr. Armbruster discussed the various ordinances of the City covering health problems. On Ordinance No. 135. - MASSAGE AND TURKISH BATH ORDINANCE. - he suggested that this ordinance be amended to include in Section I "duly licensed plysicians or licensed chiropractor." Mayor Pro Tem Sanders requested the City Attorney ._- to either prepare amending ordinance or give a ruling on how the ordinance should be amended to include chiropractors under Section -I. On Ordinance No. 145 - Health Ordinance - Dr. Armbruster stated that we should start immediately notifying grocery stores, canneries, fruit stands; etc. of this ordinance and what they will have to do to qualify for a permit. Copy of the ordinance should be mailed_ along with letter. CITY .ATTORNEY: Twin Creek Woods Water -Systems: Mayor Pro Tem Sanders requested informat on' regarding ownership of the system in Twin Creek Woods. Garbage Contract: Mayor Pro Tem Sanders requested City Attorney for -ruling -regarding the cityt s contract with the firm of Griffin -Brothers since one_: member of the firm has been elected to a public office. Citizens Who Have Failed To Tie Onto Sewer Lines: City Attorney requested to file on all -citizens who have been notifi- ed but have failed to tie onto sewer lines where available." RVII M14% WATER METER BIDS: It was moved by Councilman Courtright, seconded by Councilman Wasek to advertise for bids for 100 or more water meters. Bid ;opening date June 27, 1968. PETROLEUM PRODUCTS BIDS-. Action on this was postoned until a later date. BIENNIAL INSTITUTE FOR MAYORS AND COUNCILMEN: It was moved,by Councilman Wasek, seconded by Councilman Courtright that the City pay $25.00 registration fee for Mayor and Councilman attending Biennial Institute for Mayors and Councilmen. Motion passed 3 to 0. GARBAGE - Dr. RICE CORSE'S REQUEST FOR SPECIAL PERMIT: Councilman Sanders to discuss with Dr. Corse the dumping of dead animals in City dump. FRZENI)SWOiOD MEETING: The City Council of Friendswood requested a workshop meeting with i Pearland officials to discuss mutual problems, however, due to '— ancinterview with an applicant for the City Administrator's position, Pearland officials will be unable to attend. WATER DISTRICT 21: The Friendswood City officials requested that the Mayor and Council write Neal Caldwell and urge him to support bill to be introduced by Sen. Swartz to abolish Water District 21. It was the consensus of opinion that a copy of the proposed bill should be read before a letter was sent to Mr. Caldwell. SLEEPY HOLLOW STREETS: Street and Bridge Committee requested to make recommendation on whether or not to accept streets in Sleepy Hollow Subdivision by the next Council meeting. PERSONNEL: It was moved by Councilman Wasek, seconded by Councilman Courtright that J. B. Andrews of the Street and Bridge Department be given a $25.00 per month raise effective June 1, 1968 as recommended by Public Workts Director Harris.
