1971-12-08 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTESM HELD A special_ meeting of the City Council.of. the City of Pearland was called to order by Mayor Keller with the following present: Mayor Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman City Manager City Attorney City Secretary INVOCATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: D. R. Keller Cecil W. Griffin (Entered- 7:35 P. M.) E. A. Wasek (Entered 7:10 P. M.) Carlton McComb James 0. DeShazer Benny J. Frank -- .William E. Wolff. Bobby J. Williams Dorothy L. Cook The invocation was led by Council Chaplain Dr. Forrest Hawkins. was led by City Attorney Bobby J. Williams. PURPOSE OF THE MEETING: The Pledge of Allegiance 1. Review bids on repair and modification Of City water wells. REVIEW BIDS ON REPAIR AND MODIFICATION OF CITY WATER WELLS: The Council reviewed the bids which had been publicly opened and read aloud on December 3, 1971 at noon. The following companies submitted bids on repair and modification to the City Water Wells: Katy Drilling Company - Katy, Texas Layne Texas Company - Houston, Texas Texas Water Wells - Houston, Texas Meeting recessed at 7:20 P. M. Reconvened at 7:40 P. M. Due to the complexity of the bids, the City Council discussed each bid submitted in an effort to attain the lowest and best bid for the City. After due discussion of all aspects of the bids submitted the following motion was made. It was moved by Councilman McComb, seconded by Councilman Frank that the Katy Drilling Company be awarded the emergency repair contract, recognizing the fact that their bid r. is the lowest and most advantageous to the City, and the City Attorney be authorized I to prepare the necessary contractual documents. The City Attorney be further authorized to prepare the necessary ordinance for the issuance of Time Warrants as a mode of payment for the necessary emergency repairs on our existing water wells. Said Ordinance to be submitted to the Council by December 13, 1971. Motion passed 5 to 0. ADJOURN: It was moved by Councilman DeShazer, seconded by Councilman Frank that the meeting adjourn.
