1971-01-16 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES�I MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON JANUARY , 1971, AT 2:15 P. M. IN THE CITY HALL, 2335 N. TEXAS AVENUE, PEARLAND, TEXAS. A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Pearland was called`to order by Mayor Keller with the following present: Mayor Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman City Administrator City Attorney City Secretary Absent: Councilman rn111nrA7Tr%h1. D. R. Keller Cecil W. Griffin E. A. Wasek Carlton McComb James 0-DeShazer William E. Wolff Bobby J. Williams Dorothy L. Cook Melvin L. Black The invocation was given by Chaplain Forrest Hawkins. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Pledge of Allegiance led by Representative Joe A. Hubanek. PURPOSE OF THE MEETING: 1. Resolution of Building Dedication. 2. Resolution of Service Recognition - Past Mayors and Councilmen. RESOLUTION OF BUILDING DEDICATION: Mayor Keller read Resolution No. 71-2A dedicating the City Hall to the propositions of service and equity to all the people of Pearland. It was moved by Councilman Griffin, seconded by Councilman Wasek that Resolution No. 71-2A be adopted on first and final reading. Motion passed 4 to 0. RESOLUTION OF SERVICE RECOGNITION - PAST MAYORS AND COUNCILMEN: The following past officials of the City were present at this meeting: Former Mayor & Councilman Former Mayor & Councilman John G. Kegley Lloyd C. Hawkins Former Councilman Tomas P. Nolen David L. Smith Gene E. Sanders Steven A. Shukanes Basil L. Cogbill A. G. Ellis Charles D. Watson Earl T. Gibbons W. E. Parker Joe Dan Calvin B. J. Courtright Mayor Keller read resolution, one of which had been prepared for each former Mayor and Councilman, commending them for their service to the City. These Resolutions were numbered 71-3 through 71-16. It was moved by Councilman McComb, seconded by Councilman DeShazer that Resolutions Nos. 71-3 through 71-16 be passed on first and final reading. Motion passed 4 to 0. Mayor Keller presented each Mayor and Councilman present with a copy of the Resolution and a plaque which indicated their length of service with the City. ADJOURN: It was moved by Councilman McComb, seconded by Councilman Griffin that the meeting adjourn. Motion passed 4 to 0. Meeting adjourned at 2:35 P. M.
