LIBRARY BOARD MEETING MINUTES
JULY 17, 2025
The Library Board of the City Council of Pearland, Texas, convened in a meeting on July
17, 2025, at the West Pearland Library, 11801 Shadow Creek Parkway, Pearland, Texas.
The following represents the actions taken in the order they occurred during the meeting.
I. CALL TO ORDER
Vice Chairperson Sullivan called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m.
II. ROLL CALL AND CERTIFICATION OF QUORUM
Present were Vice Chairperson Sullivan, Member Cantu, Member Dorsey, and
Member Dunn.
Brazoria County Library System Representatives present were Lisa Loranc,
Brazoria County Library Systems Director; Jennifer Trusty, Tom Reid Pearland
Librarian; Grace Heffernan, West Pearland Librarian; Carol Krenzke, President,
Friends of the West Pearland Library.
City of Pearland Staff present were Kevin Carter, Assistant Director of Parks &
Recreation; Shelby Lowe, Executive Assistant.
III. CITIZEN COMMENTS
There were no citizen comments.
IV. REGULAR AGENDA
1. Consideration and possible action to approve the minutes of the Pearland
Library Board meeting held on April 10, 2025.
Motion to approve minutes as written made by Member Dorsey, seconded by
Member Dunn.
AYES: Vice Chairperson Sullivan, Member Cantu, Member Dorsey, and
Member Dunn.
NAYS: None.
The motion carried.
2. Board Report
Vice Chairperson Sullivan shared that her and Chairperson Joshi went and
spoke at the City Council meeting in April for National Library Month. She
shared that she has shared summer reading information for the Tom Reid
Library.
3. Report from Friends of the West Pearland Library
Carol Krenzke, President, Friends of the West Pearland Library, reported on
the following:
• Quarterly book drive hosted by Shadow Creek High School students.
• H-E-B donated to the imagination station at the West Pearland Library.
• Current fundraising initiatives.
• New website is live.
• Upcoming Back to School Bash at West Pearland Library.
4. Report from the West Pearland Librarian
Librarian Heffernan reported on the following:
• Staffing updates.
• Building updates.
• Facilitation of H-E-B donation for Friends of West Pearland Library.
• Summer reading initiatives.
5. Report from the Tom Reid Pearland Librarian
Librarian Trusty reported on the following:
• Building/roof issues.
• Library statistical data inconsistencies.
• Summer programs update.
6. Report from Brazoria County Library System (BCLS)
Lisa Loranc, Brazoria County Library Systems Director, reported on the
following:
• Suspending late return fines update.
• Library of Things — Tom Reid Library update.
• RFP for new Library Software System update.
• FY26 budget update.
• BCLS Library Summit scheduled for August 2nd
• 89t" Legislative Session library bills update.
7. Discussions for Future Library Board Agendas
Presentation on FY25 Budget and FY26 Budget Supplementals was provided
by Kevin Carter, Assistant Director of Parks & Recreation.
V. ADJOURNMENT
Chairperson Joshi adjourned the meeting at 8:00 p.m.
