ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING
JUNE 19, 2024
The Animal Shelter Advisory Committee convened in a meeting on Wednesday, June 19, 2024,
at the Shari D. Coleman Pearland Animal Shelter and Adoption Center Training Room, 8311
Freedom Drive, Pearland Texas. The following represents the actions taken by Animal Shelter
Advisory Committee in the order they occurred during the meeting.
I. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 5:40 p.m.
II. ROLL CALL AND CERTIFICATION OF QUORUM:
Present—Chairperson DVM Catherine Cupples—Position 1, Patrick Savage— Position 2,
John Fischer— Position 3, Amy Stroud — Position 4, and Vice Chairperson Mary Hickling
— Position 5. All members present.
CITIZEN COMMENTS:
There were no citizen comments.
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. Discussion and possible action regarding minutes from the March 20, 2024 Meeting.
Motion to accept by Member Savage, Seconded by Member Hickling. Unanimous
vote to approve.
IV. DISCUSSION ITEMS
1. Staff Report from Animal Services Manager John Fischer:

*8 dogs were owner requested euthanasia
Rabies Update: 5 confirmed positive rabies test results in the City for the period.
Volunteer Program: Volunteer hours for the period totaled 386. Orientations are
being held at least monthly. Several events covered by our events volunteer team are
scheduled each month.
Staffing: We have three open Animal Control Officer positions.
Training: 2 ACOs remain in training. One is in Phase 2 and the other in Phase 4
Social Media: We now have 17,778 followers of our Facebook page. Our Instagram
is up and running with 16 posts and 343 followers.
Foster Program: 3 dogs and 30 cats are in foster. "
V. ADJOURNMENT
Motion by Hickling, Seconded by Fischer.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:39 p.m.
